OK, will there be sniggers if I wear a sweatband at the gym? Forehead rather than wrist (in case that makes a difference to the twonk factor)

The sweat runs into my eyes and that makes them sting. At the moment I wipe my sting-y eyes with my T-shirt (have vest on underneath to hide gelatinous tummy) but this always feels a bit minging.
It is a Curves gym, so no men or mirrors and (this being Stevenage ) only the occasional glimmer of style, but even so, would a forehead sweatband tip me over the edge of twittish-ness?

i think you'll be ok if it matches your leotard and legwarmers

ceebee74 · 01/06/2008 20:56

Mmm yes! Why don't you take a small towel with you that you can put over the side of the treadmill/handlebars of the bike or whatever piece of equipment you are using so it is handy when you start sweating?

Lizzylou · 01/06/2008 20:57

Another vote for a towel here, much more stylish

maidamess · 01/06/2008 20:58

Here you go Lio work it baby

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 01/06/2008 21:02

Take a flannel - tuck it in with water bottle holder thingy.

beansontoast · 01/06/2008 21:05

ive never met you...nor read any of your other posts...but somehow or other i get the feeling you could 'pull it off'...go girl

Lio · 01/06/2008 21:12

Oh god, the towel thing is just so bloody obvious, how embarassing that my only idea to combat this has been to track down sportswear styled by the 118 boys.

beansontoast, I thank you (blows kiss). I am almost (but not quite) unembarassable, and if Califrau spots this thread she can testify that a headband thing would only cause a small dent to an already minimal style rating. I have been wearing my sister's school tracksuit bottoms and an old breastfeeing top to the gym, so there isn't much lower to sink.

maidamess, sadly the link isn't working for me, but I will imagine the Kids from Fame.

And to round things up, dh has just said I should get a sweatband. I don't think fashion will be visiting our home any time soon. Will go and buy a small towel asap.

Lio, it was Olivia Newton John singing 'Lets Get Physical, gyrating with a headband on. Cheap joke I'm afriad!

Lio · 01/06/2008 22:42

Shame on you, LL, you're supposed to be nice

And thank you maidamess, I will pretend I am the lovely ONJ next time I am sweating like a hound.

Have you got longish hair? Could you wear it as a hairband and surreptitiously pull it down on your forehead occasionally?

There's a girl at my exercise class who has a wee towel with her - yes it's obvious what it's for, but at least it doesn't look like a dodgy style statement as well as being obvious what it's for

Lio · 02/06/2008 11:31

I have short hair and will be getting a towelette
