What to wear with heeled black ankle boots?

Help please.

My husband has bought me a gorgeous pair of black block heeled ankle boots with laces.

I’ve worn them with cropped jeans but would also like to style them with other clothes.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

I’m 54 by the way.

One of the fashions this season is long-ish skirts, Boden have loads. They would work well with a black ankle boot. Same goes for a pair of cream cords. Wear it with a black cashmere jumper or cardigan.

Just to be transparent, I’m definitely no fashionista and wear what I feel comfortable in.
I don’t actually give a damn what people think, so long as I’m comfortable!

Ive just turned 59, 5’4, 11& a half stone, top 16/18, bottom 12/14.
So ME, my go to would be Black jeans, white t shirt, and I have a red shirt from Next,
Black t shirt, blue jeans and slouchy black jumper/sweatshirt.
sheer blouse with cami, Skirt just above the knees and black opaque tights.
and a black leather jacket.

I would wear with maxi skirts, cord barrel leg trousers and culottes.

Have to admit I’m a bit puzzled by the question - I cannot think of anything that black, block heeled, lace-up boots wouldn’t go with.

Could you link them, or say which brand? Easier to suggest with a visual idea.

Yes, I’ve seen! I’m wondering - had you pointed something similar out to your husband, or did he see them on someone else?

I would say, as a matter of proportion they’re calling out for something short - very short tweed shorts and an oversized bomber jacket, say. A denim skirt hovering around knee length would be ok. They’d look a bit wrong with a flouncy midi dress, acceptable with a narrow, ankle length leather skirt, and almost aggressively dressy with a full length dress or skirt with lots of material. And as mentioned, they’d be fine with cropped trousers, although those aren’t terribly fashionable at the moment.

Do you like them?
