Title is slightly tongue in cheek but I am attending a London event with some younger, trendier and more metropolitan people than me for a creative laugh party.

I am a plus one, and have not been in those circles in 20 years!

Slim, have a wardrobe of basics. But a steer on some outfit ideas would be great! Defo not formal, but also don’t want to look like I’ve tried too hard.

Help!

Would like to be able to shop my own wardrobe….
i prefer fitted to oversized as I am 5”1. Size 8.

Def flat shoes not heels!

SleepLuxury · 07/09/2025 19:00

How do you feel about short skirts?

If the weather is cool enough, then I would go for a fitted top, short skirt with opaque tights and clumpy flats, with an oversized blazer if you can face it!

Peclet · 07/09/2025 20:09

Defo have a blazer and flats. Can do tights etc. wonder if it might look a bit office wear??

If they’re under 30 they will probably all dress extremely casually. Ridiculously so.

MakemineaGandT · 07/09/2025 20:47

Barrel trousers, cropped jacket (ideally suede bomber), flat pointed slingbacks

Long pencil skirt; flat shoes; cropped collared cardigan; slouchy suede bag

asymmetric dress with waist detail

mynameiscalypso · 07/09/2025 20:49

I went to one of these! I wore blue barrel leg trousers with a white t shirt and a white lace bomber jacket. White trainers. I didn’t feel out of place.

ItsOnlyHobnobs · 07/09/2025 20:50

I’d do T-shirt, oversized blazer, jeans and ballet flats.

good/interesting jewellery.

Ok some great ideas’

I do actually have some flat pointy sling backs- had forgotten about them. Have some barrel jeans too.

I like the idea of a cropped jacket or something similar. Thank you for the ideas. I have some images in my minds eye now which is useful

Agreed. Or flat Mary-Janes.

My most creative London media type friend wears a lot of triangular midi dresses, slightly kaftan style. I don't know how she makes it work but she does!

What's a creative laugh party?! Sounds fascinating

I'd wear wide leg long or barrel jeans or trousers with a t shirt

Unexpectedlysinglemum · 07/09/2025 23:53

Red lipstick and some leopard print
