You’re going out tonight! What are you wearing?

Am feeling very uninspired by my wardrobe now we are coming into autumn. Had ‘going out’ outfits sorted for summer but they suddenly feel all wrong, and it feels too early to get my winter dresses out. Tell/show me what you would wear if you were going out tonight for drinks and maybe some dancing! Also shoes? Boots? All ideas and inspiration welcome 😁

Oooh some good ideas here. I have a satin skirt but hadn’t thought of pairing it with trainers - although I’m a shortarse and do like to wear a bit of a heel in the evening (whether or not that’s a bit dated, I like being able to hear the conversation without it all going over my head - literally 😂). White jeans are not my friend, sadly, am too chunky of thigh for them to suit me and also I’d be guaranteed to spill something before I even left the house! I do like cord minis but for me that’s more of a daytime look with thick tights. Maybe a faux leather mini could work?

Might get my ankle boots out and see what works with them, although I would definitely need tights. Don’t like the feel of shoes/boots with bare feet and those sock things always slip down and annoy me. Dark jeans and a waistcoat top I could do though, although my upper arms are less toned than I’d like…

Have just realised quite how particular annoying I am about what I will and won’t wear 😂. Loving the sound of the ballgown though - is it completely OTT?

I got some ankle sheer socks with diamanté on - sound horrible but they are quite cute with trainers and long skirts I think. I like the sound of your satin skirt.
i haven’t actually got the dress yet… I leave a week Friday, but got 5 dresses I panic bought arriving Monday so hopefully one works! . It’s not going to be a full ball gown tbh, but long and shiny probably!

What sort of leather jackets are you all wearing? I have a proper armoured bike jacket which I’m not using at the moment as no bike, would it be OTT to wear that out and about?

I personally don’t think anything is ott if you like it and you can rock it with confidence. And I like the sound of that!

I think the styles I’ve seen as being more ‘in
have been more brown than black, and kind of oversized, funnel neck. But I’m not buying another one and I have my mum’s old biker jacket from the 80s so I’ll continue to wear that. Trying to work out if I want to wear a white tasselled vintage leather that I got At a second hand sale, and I also have a really old Katherine hamnett leather bomber style I got at least 20 years ago, so i’ll wear that again too this autumn.

Oh I do that, complete panic buy and then end up wearing my old favourites 🙈. Do love the opportunity to dress up properly though! Can do a ball gown, a formal occasion, a nice lunch etc - it’s just going out in the evening where I have no clue now that skinnies and a nice top aren’t really the thing (and yes, I know I could still wear them regardless, but I do like to feel a little bit on trend)

I don’t really wear leather jackets - like the look on other people but for some reason I can’t really carry them off. I do like a soft suede jacket though. Not sure about wearing an armoured one out though - would it be a bit heavy?

Hmmm, I think this is where I’m struggling when I’m looking at what’s new in. So much brown! I like the look and the style, but I have cool colouring (true summer if you are into that kind of thing) and brown doesn’t really do me any favours. Like a berry-toned burgundy and have seen some nice jumpers, but not much for going out in.

My bike jacket is quite heavy but I’d mostly have it on, I think, so you don’t notice as you’re not carrying it. I rarely go out of an evening so I’m mostly planning for daytimes. I got a quite slinky dress on Vinted from Manners- it’s form fitting but I do really like it and it’s got side splits so you can walk and not be hobbled! I’m wondering if I like the overshirts and kimono tops I already own to wear over it or if I need another one (to disguise it). I need to casual everything down, even my wedding outfit was kind of casual!!

I’ve got black, dusty pink and aubergine leather jackets, all All Saints. I’ve also got an ancient, battered old black Oasis one, that would be the one I’d save in a fire.

SkaneTos · 06/09/2025 22:45

Black jeans and a turquoise top (sleeveless).
or
Red flowy skirt (mid-calf) and black top (sleeves, boat neck).

Not sure what shoes.

Comefromaway · 06/09/2025 22:48

Havnt got any pics of the Belstaff but me on nights out in the All Saints

Comefromaway · 06/09/2025 22:48

They didn’t upload

I went to see Fat Boy Slim on Thursday and was mostly dressed by my youngest DD, flared high waist jeans, crop vest top under an American Foootball style cropped t - and trainers for dancing!!

TeaAndCakeMakeThingsBetter · 07/09/2025 09:54

Oh that sounds awesome! I quite often get my kids to approve my outfits and they can be brutally honest sometimes 😂

I was singing with my chorus and our dress code is 'black and bling'. I wore a pair of wide leg chiffon trousers and an asymmetric cold shoulder chiffon top with a smattering silver rhinestones, silver shoes, a Lola Rose necklace that was my mum's, drop earrings and 2 Pandora bracelets.

Except for my everyday Pandora, I wouldn't wear any of it in real life, it's defintely stagewear. I can't wait unitl Christmas as I've bought a silver sequinned cape!

TeaAndCakeMakeThingsBetter · 08/09/2025 18:41

Black and bling sounds incredible! Love it at Christmas time when I can get all the sparkles out - am a sucker for sequins 😂. The cape sounds beautiful too. Would be so much fun to wear sparkles and sequins all the time - although I guess they wouldn’t feel so special then.

Have a big night out coming up. Am dithering between wide leg black jeans and a nice top, or a dress with boots. Would need nude tights though I think as it’s chilly in the evening now and I hate being cold!

I went out on Saturday night and wore lovely black wide leg trousers with a pleated waist with a leopard print lacy cami top, Allsaints leather jacket and brown Adidas Spezials.

Betsylee · 09/09/2025 18:41

I was wearing coated jeggings the year before last but not keen on them last year and only wore them twice, I have slim leg black jeans but not sure about trousers, would velvet look good do you think this side of Christmas, I'm 68 and fairly tall and size 14. Really unsure what to go out in the evening on the bottom half!
