I love bags.i swap regularly, my best friend buys one at a time and uses it until it breaks/gets trashed
Just for fun are you a buy a new one quite regularly type or a battered old bag type?

I found my ideal bag this year - the Nordace Sienna cross body bag. It’s quite magical because even when you think it’s full you can get more in. I started with a purple one and then bought one in denim blue. I also then bought the black one as it looks smarter and is good for the winter. It’s very easy to change bags as everything goes in the same place. But I also bought their phone bag which I use if I’m just popping out and don’t need much. I am a bag person - I can go forever without buying new shoes.

I’m a bit like your friend 🙈 I couldn’t be bothered with the transferring over of everything. I tend to go quite neutral, my bag isn’t huge, but it’s got a lot in. I can’t believe some people don’t really have one, or have a small one. You name it, I’ve probably got it in the handbag:- tissues, nail file, mirror, pen, hand cream, sanitiser, purse, glasses cloth, little pack of medicine/first aid bits (paracetamol, anti histamines, savlon, plasters, antiseptic wipe), tictacs, sanitary pad, tampax, lip gloss. It’s far too much stuff to interchange daily with other bags 🤣

My husband mocks me, but then needs to use stuff all the time 🤣

This is me
I want to swap bags so then I think of getting a pouch that goes in every bag and just swaps but then that seems like a waste of all my bags pockets
Can you tell I love bags but also overthink everything 🤣

I’m going to try and reduce what I carry around! It’s always heavy and I’d like to carry less. But I always end up needing something and if I don’t have it…

My friend has a zip bag thing that she swaps about her bags, it has her essentials.

I'm really interested in this. What type of bag(s) were in your capsule?

Not very exciting, I’m afraid.

I had a tan leather shopper I found in Florence for a while. It fit my laptop, and it went well with my beiges, navy, browns.

This summer, I was mostly using a basket/woven bag, with summer dresses - the kind of thing I could throw stuff in for the beach or park.

TragicMuse · 06/09/2025 19:16

I’m switching from my basket to a slouchy leather number I was given for my birthday earlier this year. It’s not huge and although not a cross body it stays on the shoulder really nicely.

DappledThings · 06/09/2025 19:19

I have one that I used till it falls apart. Last couple were from Shoe Express. Cross-body ones. Go with everything.

Having more than one would actively annoy me. I couldn't be arsed with transferring stuff or storing them. They are a purely functional item to me.

I like to have lots of bags, quite often to match my trainers

ShesTheAlbatross · 06/09/2025 19:45

I have a couple but for specific purposes. I use my main one like your friend - keep until they wear out.

So I have my work handbag - big enough to fit lunch. Actually I have two of these because my favourite is yellow but so is my raincoat and I don’t want to be matchy matchy. So I use a different one if I wear the raincoat.

And then I have a small everyday bag that fits a few bits (water bottle, card holder, phone, keys). I use that all the time until it wears out, then I buy a new one.

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/09/2025 20:00

I have an everyday bag (from Next), a "going to a wedding/party bag" from Clinkards, and a small cross body bag (from a small local boutique) for travelling light, as I still need to carry specs and ventolin in addition to keys, phone and purse.

I've decided that women are either bag people, shoes people or lingerie people. I'm in the last group

I fear I’m all three!

pictoosh · 06/09/2025 20:10

I have a once-in-a-lifetime splurge bag, which is beautiful and is my handbag but to be honest, with my activities being what they are, I end up using a small purple Osprey rucksack more often than not. It's not sexy at all.
I also have a daily work bag, which is a big leather bag with lots of pockets for lots of stuff.

I do try to buy once. Each bag has a purpose and gets used, all are in good shape. Quality over quantity.

CakeIsNotAvailable · 06/09/2025 20:15

I have about 4 bags out at any one time and rotate between them - I have a burgundy leather tote, a brown leather tote, a small black leather handbag, and a backpack for work. But if a bag still has life in it, I put it away and bring it out again a few years later when it feels fresh and relevant again. I have another 10 or 15 bags in the loft ready to be brought out when they're back in fashion or I fancy a change. Two of the four handbags in my current rotation are more than 10 years old!

whatsit84 · 06/09/2025 20:18

I have a couple of nice ones I rotate (Prada and Mulberry at the moment) but I’d expect them to last a good few years at the prices I paid, particularly for the Prada!

RosesAndHellebores · 06/09/2025 20:24

I tend to have a summer tote and a winter tote. I have a very old coach willow that I bloody love, it just works but is on its last legs. I also have a summer and winter smaller bag. They are all worn quite hard but I go off them after about three years when a bit jaded and they go to the back of the cupboard. I have a few smaller bags, bought to go with weddingy/occasion stuff in matching colours that I pay about £50-£80 for from people like Oliver Bonas.

TragicMuse · 11/09/2025 08:45

I have swapped to my autumn/winter bag! It’s tan leather, quite slouchy and a really good size! I love it!

MellowPinkDeer · 11/09/2025 08:56

I’ve got about 30 tbh, I use about 5 or so in rotation. None of them would be used to wrecked and get stored in their dust bags.
