Glowwa or Viviscal for hair thinning?

BufferingAgain · 03/09/2025 21:13

Has anyone tried either Glowwa or Viviscal hair supplements for hair loss please and did they work please? Would really appreciate any feedback as it’s getting me down.

Have had full bloods done and am hopefully addressing the cause but desperate to give an extra boost I can! Thanks

BufferingAgain I’m with you there as mine seems to be filling the comb after washing. I’d be interested what’s best to use to stop it.

I’m sorry to hear you’re going through the same thing. It’s distressing!

Currently half way through 1 packet of viviscal, no change yet other than hair looks a little shinier.

Also just finished a bottle of champo hair oil, and kerastase hair oil. Honestly spend a fortune on hair products with no changes to my hair :(

HelloHattie · 03/09/2025 22:06

I keep seeing Champo. Would you recommend?

friskery · 03/09/2025 22:06

Have you tried minoxidil?

Littleguggi · 03/09/2025 22:34

I prefer the champo shampoo and conditioner for occasional use, very lightweight and smells lovely!

Probably the only thing I haven't tried, read mixed reviews so unsure

Riversidegirl · 03/09/2025 22:38

I need my bloods done I think. I’m on 5 different medications so it could be one of them.

I am trying viviscal for age related hair loss. I've noticed fewer hairs in my comb so think it's doing something. Pricey though!

As far as I'm aware it's the only thing that's been shown to have an effect, but it only works while you use it.

I've been experiencing severe hair loss over the past two months. My blood tests came back normal and my GP isn’t pursuing it any further.

I've increased my iron intake (ferritin levels within range but <40, which online sources suggest isn’t ideal for hair health). I’ve also just started using the Klorane serum and bought a silk hair wrap 😂

Will report back with any progress!

I have heard that rosemary essential oil is as effective as Minoxidil.

I use 10 drops rosemary oil in a dropper bottle mixed in with a light oil, massage it into scalp. Leave in overnight and rinse out in morning, or shampoo if you like, or just leave in depending on your day ahead.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 04/09/2025 00:42

I’ve been using Minoxidil for about five months and there’s no improvement whatsoever. In fact my hair looks thinner than when I started. I’ve cancelled my subscription.

SwissHolsInTheSnow · 04/09/2025 00:51

Minoxidil doesn’t work for everyone, or for all types of hair loss. It’s supposed to be good for androgenetic alopecia, or female pattern hair loss. I’ve used it for a couple of years for this purpose - my hair started falling out when I hit the menopause. It hasn’t done much for the top/crown, but it definitely helps with the hairline. At least with these fine baby hairs it’s stops my hair looking as see through from the front. It is very distressing so I shall follow with interest re supplements. Heard that collagen can be good but I’m not sure which one.

Thundertoast · 04/09/2025 08:13

I'm on Glowwa after what I think might have been Telogen effluvium combined with some genetics kicking in and thinning the front (i already have a high hairline). I've only been on it for about 8 weeks so far (I already had a bit of baby hair regrowth before starting) so cant really gauge if it's working for my hair yet as that will take longer to see, but I have noticed my nails and eyelashes are definitely growing at speed! Will come back and update in a few months. I am on the hunt for a cheaper equivalent mix of the same supplements though, as it is expensive.
What I will also say is that I've been on a hair regrowth 'journey' for about a year after bleach damaging my hair, and i bought one of those scalp massagers and some rosemary oil and I think that has helped too, although I've been much less consistent with the oil and think it's the massage that was helping.
