Best waver for shoulder length hair

Has anyone had any success using one of the wavers (not a tong) on shoulder length hair please?
I have tried one but it was heavy and the waves were too big so didn’t really work.

What are you aiming for, and what's your hair like?

I've got the Toni & Guy big & hefty wave iron, which is admittedly an 'undertaking' to use but I like the defined look it can produce. I kid myself it's like a 1940s film star.

There are many YouTube videos on using a curling wand to create more natural-looking waves.

If you hair's a bit wavy, a good hair stylist can cut layers to enhance the natural waves - I did this for years, then my hair went flat!

You can also try sleeping in those bendy sticks, rag rolling or plaiting your hair while damp. You can also get a tight, corkscrew effect with rag rolling or putting damp hair in many small plaits.

I’ve got thin, flat hair but quite a lot of it.
I can use straighteners to put a curl or kink in and I’ve got a wand which gives loose waves.
I like the look of the mermaid loose waves using the tool that looks like a ‘s’ from the side. I was hoping it would give my hair a bit of body a bit more quickly.

Have you tried those three-barrel thingummies? Sounds like you'd want one of the smaller ones, though I'm sure you can get them for less than 70 quid

I do like the results from mine, @ThisIsHowWeDoItThisIsHowWeDoIt but, god, it's heavy!
