Anything that works? Keep seeing the champoo serum. Is it any good?

These! I have tried castor oil, various supplements, Mixodyl and probably other things I have since forgotten, but the only thing that worked was this. It’ll possibly take a few months but it should make a difference (I think I saw a difference in the amount of shedding within the first month, but it took a few months more to notice how much thicker and less flat my hair was becoming due to all the new growth.)

Minoxidil is the only medically proven effective treatment. You can buy it from Amazon.

pinkyponkyplink · 31/08/2025 23:30

@BelindaLouisawow so expensive though

Agree with @BarnOwlFlying that minoxidil is the clinically proven solution. Go for the mens 5% not the womens. Combine it with micro needling and red light. Would also recommend caffeine shampoo and make sure you are doing scalp massages to increase bloodflow.

I tried Minoxidil but found it fiddly and unpleasant, although obviously that’s just my experience.

There are loads to try, but do get a good shampoo and conditioner too! I never did for a long time, especially as I wash every day, but I am now a convert. The ‘better’ ones last ages anyway as they’re so concentrated. I alternate (basically what’s on offer!) and am currently using the Revitalash shampoo (it was discounted on Space NK) and have also used the My Routine range. Not convinced either have resulted in miraculous hair growth (maybe I should have drunk it instead!) but they did leave my hair feeling and looking a lot less flat.

Good luck!

I second Kerastase - i bought shampoo/conditioner and 8hr repair night serum on a recommendation. I have used it once only so far and i am gobsmacked! My hair is looking so much better already. I think it may take a few weeks (months?) for the breakage to stop though but thats expected

Lifelover16 · 01/09/2025 18:22

Champo smelt lovely and made my hair shiny, but did nothing for growth.

Minoxidil (Regaine) has some success, but I would urge people to read about possible side effects before using.

Clarasmum444 · 01/09/2025 18:39

I've been using waterman's for a few months. I haven't noticed a difference apart from less shedding but my hairdresser said it was thicker without me mentioning anything.

pinkyponkyplink · 02/09/2025 21:55

@tostaky which keratase?

tostaky · 02/09/2025 22:16

@pinkyponkyplinkthe genesis range. If you go on their website you can do a free diagnostic for your hair. It may be helpful

I’m in my third month of Hair & Me minoxidil capsules and the difference is super noticeable, I’m really pleased - although increased hair growth is everywhere so I’m having to work harder to keep myself moustache free, it’s worth it for mega eyelashes and much thicker hair on my temples.

It was £14.99 per month for the first 3 months, then doubles - once you’re hooked on the results!
