White trousers for very tall DH?

Raera · 29/08/2025 15:42

I know they are not fashionable (and neither is he!)
DH has decided to take up croquet and white clothing is needed. Trouble is, he has 38" inside leg and we're stumped.
Surely there must be tall cricket players?
I'm finding that sport trouser websites don't seem to state leg length.
Amazon had some John Travolta disco type ones but I don't think he would be impressed!
Any ideas please?

Has he played yet?

Raera · 29/08/2025 15:48

He's done "taster" sessions

they won’t expect full attire on day 1
or he can drop organisers an email to ask about stockists

Most cricket trousers are unfinished too take up yourself so normally very long, have you gone to a proper cricket shop?

Yes they do.
Usual stockist goes to 33 leg

I feel your pain, both my DS play lawn bowls and at County level have to wear white. They only need a 33" leg but even that was a nightmare to find! You're right about the stockists not giving measurements too, although any time I queried they were 29/31 leg, never more

Raera · 29/08/2025 19:54

Thanks, I'd actually found that site on my search
Unfortunately they aren't true white

Thanks!
I called the very helpful shop where we can usually (or sometimes!) get clothes for him and all they could suggest was a made to measure pair, but unlikely to be washable.
Their other suggestion was buy 2 pairs and cut the bottoms off one and sew to the other, but I don't thinks my dressmaking skills are up to that!

Also @POTC the 33 inch ones were in England croquet website in case that's useful for your sons

I think this is LTB territory.

pictoosh · 29/08/2025 20:02

Ohhh I read croquet as crochet and visualised him crocheting a pair of long white trousers. I thought ok, to each their own and even admired him for his chutzpah.

Croquet...that makes much more sense.

Raera · 29/08/2025 20:03

Very proud to receive my first LTB, however having someone who can paint a ceiling without a ladder is a useful skill!
He also makes fantastic Yorkshire puds so I'll hang on in there for now

Thank you, that's one I didn't find when searching! This year they just went with white shorts instead, although the eldest does have some trousers I got from Next a few years ago. He never wore them as they were 34 waist and he only needed 30/32 at the time but 3 years away at uni has changed that 😂

Raera · 29/08/2025 20:17

If now at uni, hopefully they have stopped growing. Our DGS has just turned 16 and is just taller than his granddad at 6' 7"

Can you get him some long socks and tuck some trousers in like they do for golf? 😂🤷‍♀️

Definitely worth some couple counselling then. Although maybe he needs to go to a therapist on his own to work through these croquet desires. He shouldn't be acting on them.

Colinorpercy · 30/08/2025 07:28

I was going to suggest 2Tall as well as I have a v tall husband. Maybe bleach the ecru ones?!

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 30/08/2025 07:57

I have to turn these up for DS, and he’s 6’3”. They come unturned, so your DH may well “get away” with them and white socks. However, they are ecru, rather than pure, brilliant white. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/gm-premier-club-cricket-trouser-senior/_/R-p-X8396593?mc=8396593

(I havn’t bought any for a couple of years, so it might be worth dropping Gunn & Moore a line to confirm their unfinished leg length. They have always been really helpful with my queries).

Glad I wasn’t the only one.

Have a look at the Spoke website. Made to measure trousers, my 36 inside leg DH won’t buy from anywhere else. Very good quality too.
