Job interview - help!

I've got a job interview next week and I have no idea what to wear! I got some good advice on here back in the spring (but didn't get an interview) but we're now heading to autumn and I need your help again.

Budget wise I'm looking at M&S, Next sort of price range but I don't mind spending a bit more on shoes which absolutely have to be flat. I'm 5'6", size 18-20 and very fair. The job is for a receptionist if that makes a difference.

Im really keen on the job and want to make a good first impression so thank you in advance for any help

Unfortunately I don’t know what size XL is at Uniqlo, but I’ve seen this dress (in black) absolutely transform a poster on another thread.

Uniqlo dress

Add one of their jackets and you’d be done.

What’s your absolute limit for shoes. (And your shoe size?)

I have this dress and it’s great. Easy to wear and easy to dress up or down. I’ve worn it to conferences with a jacket and on the beach with flipflops.

Thank you for all your suggestions!

I had a look at Sole Bliss but I think they will be too wide for me. I've ordered these from Fitflop - I'm not keen on Mary Janes but I know Fitflops are comfortable. Worst case I have some boots I can change into in the car!

A jump suit is definitely out as I'll look all boobs and stomach unfortunately. I love the Uniqlo dress but I have this fear of looking like a short fat pantomime fairy godmother!

I've also ordered this jacket from M&S. I have no idea what to wear it with yet as trousers are out of stock unfortunately - I love the colour! Even if I don't need it I might keep it as I like it.

I've also found out I have another interview on Tuesday but thankfully this one is on Zoom so I only have to worry about my top half!

The M&S jacket is great; very adaptable. A jacket like that over a neutral or block-colour dress or well fitting trousers with a necklace and earrings, in either gold or silver, would look great.

I’m embarrassed to say the dress doesn’t go up to my size 😢

The M&S jacket should arrive today so I’m hoping it fits ok. I’ve also got some slim fit trousers coming so fingers crossed! I’ve ordered this top in a few colours as it’ll go with pretty much anything.

Just to update this I ended up buying black trousers from John Lewis and wearing them with a top I already had and an uncomfortable pair of shoes I had in the wardrobe. I've never bought John Lewis clothes before but these are the most comfortable trousers I've had, they fitted really well and thankfully were not wide legged!

In the end I didn't get the job which was a result as it was very different to the job description. At least now I don't have to worry about trousers, only shoes!
