Tretinoin for Milia

Not sure this is a beauty question as such, but has anyone had any success with using tretinoin to treat milia?

My 14 year old daughter has lovely skin apart from upwards of 20 milia on the outer side of both her eyes, up her temples. We’ve tried exfoliating and retinol serum from the Inkey List but they seem to be getting worse and she is not keen to let me poke at her with a (sterile) needle as I would my own face.

If you think the tretinoin would be worth a go, is this something a GP would prescribe for her? Ideally we would avoid a private dermatologist as it looks like extraction of the amount she has would be upwards of £2k!

Glycolic toner may help. I don’t think you should be putting retinol on her skin, definitely not tretinoin and no, a GP would not prescribe it for this.
Try a beauty place if she won’t let you do it, one near us does it cheaper than 2k, but one of them is a fully qualified nurse and does lots of aesthetics treatments. I wouldn’t let anyone lose who was just a beautician.

Do not poke them, I did and have a permanent dark spot now. My derm says it won't respond to laser (although I would like to try!), retinol/vit A aren't touching it. I think she's a bit young for tret, glycolic or salicylic acid might be better.

What other products is she using, any oils/heavy moisturisers?

@UpToonGirl She only uses the Inkey List omega water cream to moisturise so really light and non-greasy. I’ve ordered The Ordinary glycolic toner from Amazon so we’ll give that a go. Thanks!

@ShouldHaveCouldHaveWouldHaveDone I’ll see if can track down a suitably qualified someone to extract. That’s really sound advice, thank you.
