The regulars on the thread mainly discuss luxury BAC and this dies down by September when everyone has purchased and forgotten the contents. Then it goes into discussion on what’s selling out, what hasn’t and what deals and discounts to be had on ACs in the lead up to December. Then in December we move onto AC opening threads!

I wanted to love Vogue - hmm!!

had another look at Liberty, like it more.
so Fortnums, Liberty plus boots skincare might be my picks.

Although waiting for m and s and LiB (strange they’ve not announced yet).

I went to Selfridges on my lunch break today to have a smell of JM Wood Sage and Sea Salt...it was nice enough to "allow" me to get the LF Fragrance calendar!

I had my phone out looking for ones in the HN calendar too, the couple I smelt weren't great tbh. But they are all minis in HN so the value doesn't hinge on a single bottle like LF.

Am I the only one quite tempted by Vogue? Yes, the key chain, metal face thingy and vibrating eyemask are a bit rubbish, and there are some of the usual suspects, like the Votary serum, CT wand and the Nuxe oil, but there is also quite a lot that is unique to this calendar. The perfume gets good reviews on Fragrantica, the jewellery and beanie are nice and I like the unusual make up products - the Suratt eyeshadow and Ilia lip/cheek product look well chosen and good shade choices.

The only non full size products are the La
Mer creams (and I’m very happy to get even small sizes of those) and a small sun cream coupled with another product. The included hair products are things I’ll use - even the clips. I also rather like the Beija Flor scent - it is a bit juvenile, so is something of a guilty pleasure and I tend to use it only when I am home, but I will use it. Overall I’m thinking it’s a bettter bet than a number of the other calendars which have a mix of things I’d like but also fillers and travel sizes of things I am less likely to use and won’t be able to sell.

I get early access to CB tomorrow although I imagine once the link is out there anyone can probably use it to purchase.

I need to make a decision as I've been wavering on all my shortlist. I think it's because none of them truly wow me and it's only a handful of products in each one that catch my eye. SNK is probably the best one but CB comes in a bit cheaper.

Still have Glossybox in the basket too whilst I dither.

If the LF Fragrance Calendar had JM Pomegranate Noir or Peony & Blush Suede I would of bought immediately - Wood Sage & Sea Salt is meh to me.

@AprilLady you do seem to be the only one keen on it, so far 🙂

@AprilLady I'm a bit tempted by Vogue. I like the jewellery and the beanie. I've read that the Surrat eyeshadow is really good so I would like that. I'm not sure if I like it for £100 more than most of the others.

Agree with this. Any other JM fragrance would have been preferable tbh. Now, do I use a big chunk of my Topcashback balance on Liberty? It would be 'free' after all. I ❤️ the box and the bag. Are the contents worth me sacrificing my balance? I don't think so in the end (How can they say an 8ml Liberty fragrance is Full Size?)

Hmm. I'll probably hold out for Diptyque, if the fragrances are the ones I like, JL Home Fragrance and Fenwick (at least it will likely attract the GWP)

I love how when you're mulling stuff over it's confusing, but when you write it down it becomes so much clearer.

I had some very high hopes for Vogue (had it last year and loved it), but I don’t know now. I feel a bit underwhelmed - I really don’t like that bag charm (and that alone adds £200 to “value”), I like the beanie (but do I like it THAT much?), I’d like to try the perfume, love the Nuxe oil, most of the skincare seems nice, just doesn’t seem to excite me. I’ll look into the jewellery.
Not sure, F&M made me feel more excited and it’s better priced.

I'm quite attracted to the Boots No7 Premium calendar for £175.

Does anyone else like this one? I fear single brand is too samey though. I have been using the Future renew cleanser which is nice and wouldn't mind trying other stuff in the range.

It's not even a nice bag charm really. Feels a waste of '£200' value. For £200 they could have put a full size La Mer cream in it.

My Harrods beauty calendar arrived today. It is for DH to put away for my birthday in October, but I did have a quick check to make sure all the contents were there (they were) and to swap a few days around. I will tell him to hide it away from me now!

Oh, goodness, yes! How much nicer that would have been. Actually, if they had done that, I wouldn’t complain at all.

As an aside , did anyone else get the email from re:cycle ? No more vouchers / reward points at all for either LF or CB. You can still recycle but no rewards 🤔

@diamondsandrose I got the email too. There's no incentive for me to keep using the scheme then. I have some more stuff to upload and will do so in the next week.

My re:cycle experience was a flop from the start. I submitted 3 batches and didn’t manage to get any credit on CB/LF. It just said failed and to contact them, which is not an easy thing to do.

Ive got a bag full of things waiting to recycle, I might try Boots

@AprilLady i had a quick glance at Vogue today, I like the box, I like the metal scalp massage thing, I like the sound of the discotheque fragrance and I think I’d love a vibrating eye mask. The make up shades look good to me. I didn’t like the box the first year and think Foreo’s are bad for your skin so seems my opinion is not with the mainstream either.

i really haven’t had time to keep up with the thread or categorise and price the Space NK and Cult Beauty AC so I might miss the boat on ACs this year. I’m really not an impulse purchaser or just go for it, hate waste/hoarding so like to be very sure. I should just go for the Liberty AC based on skincare but I have away SO much perfume and other fragrance products last year and even more to give away still. Got the Neom candle and Diptyque candle from Liberty well travelled kit and August GWP sitting there needing homes.

i bought a lot of makeup recently and there’s not as much joy in AC make up as buying a new lipstick in your perfect colour.

I was surprised thread 2 lasted only 13 days, this is nearly full up on day 12!

Just revisited some earlier released BACs and strangely started to like the Selfridges one that I didn’t like at all at first (can’t even remember why), but most likely will go for Harvey Nichols or F&M. Does anyone know when Jarrolds will release their BAC?

@OvaHere im rathar glad Vogue didn’t put something as tempting as a full sized ‘La mer’ in the calendar …I would really be torn between what BAC to buy …by the looks of this thread SNK is coming out on top and im guessing will sell out rapidly when it does release …

Fortunately my bank balance, I don’t think that Vogue is for me. I quite like the jewellery, but I have small wrists and regular size bracelets just fall off me. This one doesn’t look adjustable. The eye mask also looks interesting.

However, I’m not interested in the beanie, the clips, the bag charm, the champo, the eyeshadow, the candle, the sleep spray or the face sculpt tool. I feel like this is too many DoDs

Are the Boots advents still only available if you signed up to their wait list? I can’t see them on the website?
