I'm after some style advice. I see Adidas everywhere and like it on others but looking closer at the various models I'm not sure. Equally I feel AF1s have had it even though they're very comfy. Not keen on NB either. Don't mind Asics as much but they look very sports trainer like. Please help, I'd like to look stylish and up to date. I normally wear smart casual to casual clothes, wide trousers usually with more fitted tops and jumpers.

Was also going to recommend Puma. I've got a good few pairs of Adidas and they're all different, what kind of style are you looking for?

Can anyone explain the new balance thing to me? I remember seeing them years ago, and they very much a “mum trainer”. Back in the late 90s / early 2000s.

Now they seem to be everywhere all of a sudden, and worn by very young, cool girls.

What have I missed? And when did this happen?

They also just look the same as I remember, so it’s not like they are a more modern version to before.

Would also recommend Pumas, they're really comfortable and have weaned me off my Adidas habit. Except I now have a Pumas habit.

I'll look at Pumas, thanks.

To me AF1s were the perfect the trainers, comfy for my kind of feet, fashionable and go with everything. With the added benefit that they made me an inch taller. I'd like to find that kind of trainer again but of its time as AF1 feel old fashioned now or maybe I'm tired of it and would like to update my 'look'.

Hoff. - so many colours you can co-ordinate to outfits. Plus supremely comfortable.

healthycrisps · 23/08/2025 09:02

What do people think of VEJAs? Are they comfy?

Just wanted to say I have the Adidas trainers linked above but in a different colourway. I really love them and they are super comfy because unlike Sambas and Gazelles, they have more arch support.

I used to wear NB but don't find the newer and currently trendy styles as comfortable.

Like the look of Hoff - they seem to be suddenly everywhere!

Its crazy, isnt it? NB used to be the cheap basic trainers you wore if you werent trendy!
Their marketing team deserve a medal!!LOL😄

If you're willing to pay for a running shoe that seems to be worn more as a lifestyle shoe then looks at On Running. There are certainly options to give you a few cm extra height, but the cloud pods do give the designs a particular look.

Vans super lo pro are lovely on and surprisingly comfortable. Onitsuka Mexico 66 are lovely too but not as comfortable as the vans imo. Autry medalist are nice too similar to the af1 and really comfortable.
New balance 990v6, ASICS GT-2160 and Nike P6000 are really comfortable but definitely more a sporty trainer.
I love a pair of adidas and have many pairs.

The New Balance trainers not only are trendy but very comfortable. I for years suffered with plantar fasciitis but since wearing NB it’s disappeared for good
