Hi

Posting here for you lovely fashionistas to read. DH going to Pune in India on business next month and has a few hours free to shop for me.

Any ideas of goodies he can bring me home - textiles / clothing / scarves / accessories ? I’m thinking locally made and not at the duty free. Thanks!

Oh there will be all sorts! Indian silver jewellery is great. Get him to do a video call in the shops so you can see what there is. There will be things from all over India. Textiles from Rajasthan are amazing, it just depends what you want. Carved wooden items, brass things.

Have a look at https://www.fabindia.com/

They have stores all over India so should have branches in Pune.

Their home textiles are lovely, also accessories. Clothing great too (but sizes do come up small I find). Choose a few things, take screenshots/or send him links so he can pick up a selection!

I was also going to suggest FabIndia as a one stop shop if he is in a hurry. Or any kind of Cottage Industries Emporium if there is one. ( run by the government and reasonably priced)

Fantastic thank you! I’ve just gone down a wormhole with Fabindia - there’s loads I love and some lovely table runners, wooden trays and house bits too. Yes he’s a great shopper and that’s a good idea to video call me! I’m getting the bigger suitcase out of the loft now!

I just want to caution that most FabIndia clothes and textiles are handloom/ indigo dyed and therefore may bleed colour in a machine wash. I often have to handwash some. Though some are just plain cotton and ok to wash in the delicate cycle.
