what top etc would you wear with this skirt? It’s gorgeously heavy and sits really nicely, but I’m not sure what to wear on top half. I’m thinking for maybe a family bbq or work? I’ll probably style it with trainers as I can’t easily wear anything else. I’m a small 10 if that helps give you any pointers! And short.

I would wear something fitted on top to balance out the skirt being very full.

I think I would lean into the 1970s vibe a bit, with tan knee-high boots or cowboy boots, plus a slim fit ribbed top. I'd avoid anything too billowy. This sort of thing for summer, long sleeved for autumn.

I really like that skirt OP, I'd wear it with a fitted tshirt and a checked shirt. It would be a bit casual for my office unless I wore some kind of blouse. Think it would also work well with chunky knits when the weather gets colder.

FurForksSake · 19/08/2025 16:10

Ok, I’ve ordered some shirt / ribbed T-shirt / fitted top options. I might take some photos and get more options if you promise to be nice 😆

Luckily I work with young people in mental health so it’s not business / corporate dress. I think it’ll be a staple piece through autumn winter with some chunky knits. Might also look for a cropped trench.

Cropped chunky knit would be nice when it's cooler. The cardigan it's styled with in the photo works well. Love the idea of tan long boots.

Could embrace a cowgirl vibe and go for a prairie style blouse, tucked in, or even a crisp white shirt might work. I'd probably treat it a bit like a pair of jeans to be honest (rightly or wrongly!)

Cute skirt! I also like how it's styled in the pic as well a the idea here. It makes sense to think of it as a pair of jeans, great idea @Funsummerfun

Purplecatshopaholic · 20/08/2025 09:39

Fitted jumper and brown suede boots. Defo like your idea of a cropped trench too op.

Cantonet · 20/08/2025 10:15

I have a similar skirt & wear it with a ribbed vest top & a crochet or embroidered waistcoat. Or a crochet short sleeved cardigan. In winter I will wear the skirt with a cashmere cardigan & suede boots. Billowy boho blouses don't look right with skirts with any volume.

Whatareyoutalkingaboutnow · 20/08/2025 11:20

I really like that. I think it's a "wardrobe staple" that will work with a lot of things. Might get one myself. 🤔

Y2ker · 20/08/2025 12:27

Racer back vest top in summer, black fitted jumper of cropped cardigan in winter. Possibly a fitted shirt tucked in if you wanted to look a bit country.

FurForksSake · 23/08/2025 19:37

Ok, this is how I wore it.

I have that skirt, OP! Got it earlier in the summer and got lots of wear out of it so far. Looking forward to pairing it with jumpers and boots this autumn/winter.

It really is a skirt for all seasons!
