How to retain hair colour?!

I’ve been greying since early 20’s, now early 40’s and get my hair coloured every 5 weeks.

most recently it’s not just my roots that are the issue but my whole hair seems to lighten very quickly- about 2-3 weeks after getting it done.

I’m naturally dark but it lightens to the point it looks quite blonde and I look washed out as it really doesn’t suit my skin.

I use shampoo and conditioner for coloured hair, only wash every 2-3 days. I don’t know what to do and I have neither time nor money to go more frequently to the hairdresser.

Anyone else have this issue? What can I do to fix?

I have the same issue, my hair has got progressively lighter over the years with the colouring in so much as it’s almost platinum. I guess it hides the grey coming in, but a darker shade would suit me better.

It’s a nightmare, it’s over £100 a pop, I can’t go anymore frequently.

I’m tempted to ask the hairdresser for a bottle of the coloured gloss to see if that helps.

I have a home hairdresser, £20 a root touch up every 5-6 weeks. Bit more if I ask her to put some darker foils through - but those tones do not last for long either.
