Plus size - hide under a tent or let it all hang out?

I am a plus sized 24 and 5ft 3in tall and about to start a new job which is in the office after 6 years of working from home, so have been fishing around looking at outfits etc on the internet. After years of hiding under baggy tops I am seeing more and more plus sized people in what I would call standard fit clothes which either fit their bodies (ie not baggy) or actually emphasise them (ie tight). Whilst everyone has the right to dress how they please what are people actually wearing in real life - are we still hiding under tents or is it ok now to wear trousers with a tshirt tucked in and let the world see my apron belly?

It also doesn’t help when looking at the length of things or fit when the only photos of the models show them bent over or twisting !

I think it would be well worth the time and effort to go somewhere you can try lots is things on. Once you k ow the brand and style you’ll be able to buy online. I have a somewhat similar figure to you and find the Sahara balloon dresses very flattering. I but them on eBay as they’re expensive new.

If you have an M&S locally, it can be worth ordering a load of things in your size(s) to click and collect from store (when M&S ever get their act together on this) and then take to the changing rooms and try them on in store, and immediately return the ones that don’t fit via their in store returns.

Not as good as having a good range in your size to pick from the racks, but the in store returns usually get refunded really quickly. I’ve also known people do this in John Lewis - maybe other stores too?
