The perfect vest/tank top - help!

I promise I have googled and searched but can't find this. Has anyone seen a vest/tank top that is:

  • Not tight fitting
  • Wide straps so I can wear a bra - or if a cami style then straps only narrow at the very top of the shoulder
  • No hugely gaping at the armholes so said bra isn't on show
  • Don't think I mind about the neckline too much
  • Available in navy and also ideally in a light pink

I'm short and a size 14.

I order this Boden one but it's weirdly wide under the arms. https://www.boden.com/products/regular-v-neck-slub-vest-navy-2

Regular V-Neck Slub Vest-Navy

A relaxed fit vest perfect for every day. Crafted from soft cotton it’s a cool choice (quite literally) when the weather heats up.

Thank you - I like the shape of that - is it a sports type material? While I am definitely not in the 'only natural fabrics' camp, I'm looking to wear on holiday with denim shorts/linen trousers etc.

I like the shape of that too, but it’s a ‘technical’ fabric (mostly polyester) and a few of the reviews mention gaping arm holes. Shame!

I like the vest tops from next. They keep shape really well.

Try Toast, the garment dyed cotton tank might fit the bill. I have it in orange and its a really lovely fit, colour and shape. They do a navy.

Thank you for all the suggestions l - will check them out!

It is a bit shiny yes but it looks good on. I got away with wearing it with a skirt. It's only £10 reduced from £30.

Mine didn't have gaping armholes. It fit very well.

Search for the slouch vests from Next, loads of colours and just as you describe.

I tried one of these on in store and it was too gaping - but I have just seen they do them in petite fit so might give them a go and see. Thank you 🙂

Morrisons nutmeg clothing.
I have some of their vests, and 3/4 sleeve black tops.
Very well made, vests keep shape.

I’ve just had a similarly difficult search for a white vest. Most of them were horribly thin and the armpits were far too low. I ended up with one from Mint Velvet, although felt a bit shocked at the price compared to places like Next. The cotton is thick and it’s much better quality than Marks, for example. It also comes in pink and in black.

Uniqlo rib vest - ticks all your boxes other than that it’s a reasonably “tight” fit in that it doesn’t taper out or anything, but it’s a nice thick material and i sized up and don’t find it clingy (I had similar criteria!)

The Next slouch vest in a petite fit worked! Thank you for the recommendation!
