Would you wear trousers to a wedding?

It will be quite dressy. I was thinking of wearing cream trousers and a black blouse - would that be OK - or is it not 'dressy' enough?

i think as a blanket response, yes.

Do you think your outfit will look equally smart and put together alongside other guests?

my super classy mom wore super wide pallazo pants and a matching tunic top.
she looked amazing.

I think it’s the black blouse that makes it less wedding-like. People definitely wore trousers to my wedding but with dressy tops. I think trousers are fine.

PeonyBulb · 10/08/2025 01:08

You should avoid cream and white really but if you have the figure then yes itll look lovely and elegant.

wear a more joyful coloured blouse maybe a dark green or red

Faineante · 10/08/2025 01:47

Of course you can wear trousers to a wedding! The outfit you suggest should be fine if it’s in keeping with the dress code, season and environment.

Personally no, but l’m very much a dresses girl; summer and winter, l love my dresses. I only own a couple of pairs of trousers and rarely wear them and Jeans or leggings on occasion.

But l’ve seen women look nice in trousers at weddings.

Itsnottheheatitsthehumidity · 10/08/2025 06:09

I did, to my own wedding. I've never been a huge dress person.

Rocknrollstar · 10/08/2025 06:10

I always wear wide evening trousers to weddings and parties.

SausageRoll2020 · 10/08/2025 06:42

Personally I'd always choose to wear a dress but the right style of trousers are perfectly acceptable and can look great.

As a general rule the colours you shouldn't wear to a wedding are white/cream and black so I wouldn't consider the outfit you have in mind to be suitable.

disappointedconfused · 10/08/2025 07:10

People wear jumpsuits all the time these days to weddings so I don’t see why not

Dearover · 10/08/2025 07:13

I wore black linen wide leg trousers and a black & white large printed top to a wedding last month. Nobody will mistake you for the bride. Honestly, what nonsense!

SparklyGlitterballs · 10/08/2025 07:19

I haven't done, but I wouldn't judge anyone who did. There could be a multitude of reasons why someone would want their legs covered, aside from fashion choice. As long as they're stylish, what's the problem?

thatsnothtepoint · 10/08/2025 07:20

It depends on the fabric and style of the black blouse alone and whether there's a matching jacket.
I wore a silk chiffon trouser suit to my DS's wedding, so trousers aren't the issue at weddings imo.

I wore cream trousers, with a black and cream jacket (mainly black), a cream and black waistcoat, with a black hat and black accessories to a wedding recently

ShowOfHands · 10/08/2025 07:26

if you have the figure then yes itll look lovely and elegant

Is there a figure needed to wear trousers now?!

Perfectly acceptable to wear trousers to a wedding. I'd imagine most men will be wearing them as well so you will fit right in.

Last wedding I went to, the bridesmaids were wearing trousers and they looked fantastic.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 10/08/2025 07:56

Absolutely. I went through a phase of trying to dress like some kind of platonic idea of a wedding guest, and always felt like a bit of a prawn. I look and feel better now I dress like me, but on a really good day, which means trousers very often (including my own wedding day).
