Where can I find a cotton sweater like this?

I really like this cotton sweater which was on the Wears My Money newsletter - as a great summer option. But I can't afford it! Where can I find something similar for a much cheaper price? I have scoured around but had no luck.

thank you - don't know what I was doing wrong!

Both those Navy Grey jumpers on Vinted have small holes suggesting the quality isn't all that.

I'm staggered someone wants nearly £80 for a second hand jumper with visible moth holes on the front. I'd bypass that for a fiver.

clotheslinefiasco · 06/08/2025 05:26

Many thanks for the heads up on the Next jumper. Couldn't resist and have ordered it - bargain for £16 !

Absolutely. And to be then cheeky enough to describe the condition as 'good' when you can get BNWT items from the top of the High Street for similar prices:
Me&Em
Bella di Notte
White & Warren

The menswear department of M&S or Debenhams is where we used to buy them last time .... they lasted forever (unlike Debenhams).

Love Crew Clothing. The Tali jumpers are lovely. I have 5 different colours, all bought in the sale. Wash and dry really well too!

The second one is listed for £120! It looks filthy, faded, stretched and again, full of holes.

EstherGreenwood63 · 06/08/2025 12:06

I have the crew clothing one in navy and it's pretty good, comes up big so you will definitely get oversized if you sized up.

In fact I recently bought this....https://www.passenger-clothing.com/products/vista-recycled-knitted-jumper-amber-gold-new
Very generous and thick cotton.

63% polyester. No cotton at all.

MrsSlocombesCat · 06/08/2025 12:32

As a knitter and crocheter I can't believe people pay this much money for a manufactured jumper. Cotton yarn is relatively cheap so you're paying at least £200 just for the name! Some people really must have more money than sense.

They're actually lambswool, not cotton

Yes. I would not pay £75 for a sweater that has moth or catch holes on the arms and on the front.

Maybeitllneverhappen · 06/08/2025 13:14

I agree with people saying Cotton Traders. I buy one similar to what you want from there every few years so have a look. Very good value too.

HauntedDreams · 06/08/2025 14:03

@thundertoday i got some 100% cotton jumpers from TU online…in the men’s section!
Fantastic colours, wash really well, a bit thinner than the one you posted but fantastic with a long sleeve top under for winter, or a T shirt for spring/autumn. M& S also have cotton jumpers, but they are a PITA for me to click & collect so I mostly avoid them, again the mens are better value.

Allseeingallknowing · 06/08/2025 14:06

Why do they seem to be available only in the men’s sections? I often buy men’s t shirts as they are longer. M&S women’s tops are often too short in the body and sleeves, and have been for years

But we’re not all as clever as you! A modest square is all I can do. I could sew them all together,I suppose!

They're better made because men won't tolerate shoddy clothes.

Notoloasy · 06/08/2025 14:12

I bought a lovely one just like that from the charity shop

Not cotton, moose62. It's made from:

"63% Recycled Polyester 22% Acrylic 6% Wool 6% Nylon 3% Elastane"

665theneighborofthebeast · 06/08/2025 16:15

Mens cotton jumpers are usually a fraction of the price of womens'. The variation in shape is usually that they have slightly longer sleeves proportionately. I like to push up my sleeves a bit though so i never notice this. raglan sleeves, like the ones in your first picture also negate any wider shoulders.
There are several decent brands on amazon and you can always send things back if they don't live up to expectations.

I think M&S tshirts are too long in the body and sleeve. Women's clothes are smaller than men's clothes because the average women is shorter than the average man.

I’ve just picked up this one https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E475296-000/00?colorDisplayCode=55&sizeDisplayCode=004 as the women’s ones were all short and boxy. This fitted much better, cotton and acrylic, but feels completely like cotton and very soft.

I LOVE those heavy cotton jumpers. I just bought two cotton cardigans from Seasalt that are gorgeous but sadly they don't have a jumper like that at the moment but .might have in their winter collection.
