underwear?

Seaside3 · 04/08/2025 17:29

Also, some lightweight trousers for evenings.

Ginmonkeyagain · 04/08/2025 17:31

Where are you going to in France? Big country - lots of different weather and types of holiday.

Overtheatlantic · 04/08/2025 17:37

Another bikini, nightgown?

Peclet · 04/08/2025 17:37

Yes underwear!

Had forgotten PJs, so have added some little small shorties ones.

I am a bit of an over packer but when I went to France for 7 days last month (city and beach break in the South) I took:

1 x denim shorts

7 x t shirts

4 x skirts

3 x dresses

4 x vest tops

a loose beach cover up blouse

swimming costume

sunhat

3 x bras

9 x pants

3 x uniqlo AIRism cami tops (a life saver when the temperature hit 38 degrees)

1x light rain jacket

I wore a pair of linen blend barrel leg trousers, a cotton blouse over a sturdy vest top and Birkenstocks on the journey over.

1 x bag of cosmetics (generally decanted in to small pots and jars

I got it all in a Kipling duffel bag that is fine as hold luggage.

It was pretty hot the first part of the week so a lot of the t shirts only did one wear or at a push two wears.

Travelling in white jeans is brave! I think you need one more pair of bottoms that aren’t as casual as denim shorts to pair with the tops and also in case the white trousers get grubby. Also I assume you’ve remembered your underwear?

I have black and navy silky fabric (but not silk!) wide leg trousers. Got them in Spain, uncrushable and fold into a hanky size. two or three nice tops to go with them and sorted for nights. I wear one of the trousers travelling. They wash and dry in an hour and I'm bloody sorry I didn't buy more at the time, but hey ho.

I'm not a dress person at all, so just bring one light cotton sort of "cheese cloth" fabric flowy dress that again is uncrushable and folds to nothing, I might or mightn't use it depending on the weather!. That and two light linen/cotton trousers for daytime, 3/4 length + sleeveless tops. 1 light cardi, underwear, spare T shirt to sleep in, a few toiletries, chargers etc.

I'm sure I've forgotten something, but that's the gist of it mostly. Fits in a Ryanair size backpack. I don't do beaches or sunbathing, so no swimwear for me.... I leave the toiletries and the old sleep t shirt behind. I don't bring any hair straighteners or other hair equipment other than a brush, and just use powder foundation and a bit of blush + lip gloss. Done!

There's no beach in bordeaux (as far as I've found) so a sarong isn't necessary.

Id definitely pack linen/light weight type trousers instead.

We are currently in the vicinity, visited a cool place called darwin ecostystem last week, loved it.

It's warm here ar the moment, but it's been fairly cool in the evenings, so maybe a longer sleeved shirt too.

sritz · 04/08/2025 17:57

Wouldn’t travel in jeans, wear something that you’ll wear again as I would think jeans will be too hot for when you get there.

Ginmonkeyagain · 04/08/2025 18:02

Yeah if you are going to Bordeaux in the next few days I wouldn't bother with jeans or a cashmere jumper - looks like it will be low to mid thirties and wall to wall sunshine.

I'd wear some cotton trousers, a t shirt and light cotton cardie/jumper to travel in.

sritz · 04/08/2025 18:18

I’d just get a few lightweight dresses

I do think you need your white jeans, they are in fashion in France. Perfect for the evening when it is a bit cooler. I agree with PP travelling with white is brave.

Peclet · 05/08/2025 15:39

Thank you all so much for your input.

I have taken out one of the tips and added in a silly shirt that works area cover up or tucked into jeans can be quite smart and one dress.

I would never every tracker in sandals as I am terrified or being in a plan crash and so it will forever be trainers!

I have a tide pen for potential stains on the go!

These sound amazing!
