had my hair highlighted on friday and was thinking of going swimming with my bored and couped up children (crap weather half term), has anyone heard of the chlorine turning your hair green? or is this just an urban myth? any advice appreciated

Urban myth

And if it isn't, you should be able to neutralise it with ketchup.

It's NOT an urban myth.

It happened to me.

My hair went LUMINOUS turquoise after swimming in a small hotel pool in S. America. It did stink of chlorine though, I suspect there was too much in there.

I actually grew to quite like the colour. Even dh said it looked quite cool, so I left it luminous.

It faded away after a while though

My sister's went mottled khaki.

If your hair goes green after swimming the pool seriously uses too much chlorine. I was a hairdresser for about 15 years and never came across one person whose hair went green, and I knew a lot of swimmers

Hairdresser told me to put conditioner in before I went swimming and not wash it out until afterwards.
