Swimsuits don’t come to my armpits!

I’ve lost 3 stone and now a size 14 /16 (from a big 18) and but i cannot find a swim suit that fits me as they all don’t reach armpits!

So the point that should sit under the boobs is 3 inches below where it needs to be a I can stretch the straps but it looks like a terrible wrestling wrestling outfit. I’ve tried on in MS, Matalan and primark and they are all the same issue. Even the 18 is to low.
I have a bikini but want a cute swimsuit for snorkelling and water parks. I don’t like tankinis

Can anyone help?

Pour Moi - Next stock them. Proper swimsuits in nice styles but with good structure and coverage where you need it.

Are you unusually proportioned OP? I’m not sure what is going wrong. Do you mean the straps over the shoulder are too long so the top sits too low?

get one with bra style adjustable straps. They are everywhere

liquidsquidli · 30/07/2025 19:33

Even if the straps fit or can be adjusted to a max extent there is no fabric to cover my boobs! It’s about 3 inches too low?!

I will have a look at pour moi

Do you have a long body? I think Lands End do longer length swimsuits. And maybe you need to go up a size, for comfort?

MJalltheway · 30/07/2025 19:38

I'm having the exact same issue for the exact same reason! Dropped from an 18 to a 14 and have big boobs and a long torso but the 14s are just so short!
I haven't got a solution yet, I've tried many many brands but I have some lands end ones on the way which I'm hoping will do the trick.

If you google tall swimsuit there’s a few. I have a basic black one from M&S that’s long

Branleuse · 30/07/2025 19:41

There are so many styles of swimsuits available, it's surprising if none of them fit.
Have you considered a tankini?

NCNC4 · 30/07/2025 19:44

I have a “long body” and swimsuits never come up high enough for me either. Bought one in “Long” from Boden and it’s perfect!

liquidsquidli · 30/07/2025 19:53

Thanks everyone i will look for tall or long ones - I didn’t know this was a thing. Im 5’6 and have short legs so i suppose i must have a long body!

Yes, definitely a thing! Also 5ft6 with short legs and find swimsuits don’t cover up my bum/bits if not longer length.

AnotherEmma · 30/07/2025 20:09

Well done on the weight loss.
As PPs said, look for longer length swimsuits.
Also, bra-size swimwear, if you have a large cup size.

DuckDuckTruce · 30/07/2025 20:10

Unhelpful but BHS used to cut swimsuits for long bodies. I miss them!

Try George but size up.

KnitKnitKnitting · 30/07/2025 20:15

I have this, 5’8 but have to wear a short in jeans! M&S have a long option for swimsuits, and Next do a Tall option.
