Long but skinny trousers needed for 9 year old!

My DD is 9 and tall but very skinny...she desperately needs new trousers but everywhere we have tried so far has been useless. They are all way way too big around the waist and thighs - even with an adjustable waist and belt - if they are the right leg length. If they fit around the middle, they are too short. Anyone else got this problem? Ideas as to where to try? Thanks.

I managed to get skinny jeans for my shapeless and skinny 11-year old from M&S.

dd is tall and skinny, we get hers from Next.

Am watching thread carefully has my dd has the same issue. Can be comical taking her to shops - watching her pull on a skirt and then watching it drop to the floor.

Gap skinny fit certainly exists for boys anyway - I have a nearly 9 year old DS1 who is also very skinny and Gap skinny fit jeans are the best fit for him that I have ever found.

Agree with the fall to the floor comment...tried some on in Asda on Mon and they just slid right off her! But were the right length. She has no shape at all. Next are too short in the right length...even with adjustable waist...they just look all bunched up and she says they are uncomfortable. I prefer skirts as they just get shorter...she is still wearing some that are age 5-6!! But the weather has been so rubbish and we are going camping a lot so she really needs trousers! Am going to try Gap and New Look and see how we get on. Thanks for all the tips.

Gap skinny is the smallest we've ever found, there is a very limited range of styles, however & can be a bit depressing if your DD spots any of Gap's funkier styles - because they definitely won't have them in skinny!

We have also found Pumpkin Patch good, they have a little known range for older girls (8-16yrs) which seems to be cut very small. It's also been a godsend in styling as a 10yr girl can look bizarrely childish in normal 7-8 yr old clothes. Sadly this year (DD is 13) it all looks wrong again.

We would also brace ourselves to try H&M - usually nothing to fit, but some of DDs favourite trousers have been found there over the years.

The really horribly expensive option, which DD has now discovered, is Abercrombie - it's a really good fit, lovely quality but $$$

Just had a thought - try ebay for Gap skinny jeans - they don't seem to go for much on ebay - though, you'd probably have to look regularly for some to come up.

Sorry - bit of a diatribe - but it's my specialist subject!

I have the same problem with my daughter. The best I have found so far are from Zara - you do need to go up at least a size in age, but they do work out a good length and very skinny! Other than that it is worth trying La Redoute (mail order). Again, you have to order up a size, but the french seem to do long and slim quite well.
