Help! 0.8ml of lip fillers supposed to be this swollen?

Universe11 · 30/07/2025 01:30

I woke in the middle of the night (1:30) for a pee and I looked in the mirror and omg! My lips are huge! I had them done last night at 7pm. Is this normal? There’s no pain or hotness or redness just severely tight! I’m getting so worried.
Please someone help or some reassurance!

Have you had a hot bath or shower at all xx

NeedZzzzzssss · 30/07/2025 01:53

Holy crap, I'm assuming that wasn't the look you were going for. I think you should go to A&E, that looks like an allergic reaction?

Radionowhere · 30/07/2025 01:55

Second a trip to A&E.

CareerChange24 · 30/07/2025 01:58

Not personally had it happen but I have seen several friends and they’ve sent photos looking just like this in the few days after having it done. It will calm down

wheresmymojo · 30/07/2025 02:13

I had 0.7 and for sure they were tight, swollen and a bit bruised but nothing like the size of yours OP. I’d be tempted to see how they are in the morning and then make a call.

Might be worth putting some frozen peas or similar on them to reduce the swelling but just be careful to hold them gently against the surface with the least possible pressure

Chilesstanton · 30/07/2025 02:30

I had 1.0 and it didn’t look like this. Ice and consider a&e ❤️

Glitchymn1 · 30/07/2025 04:39

My hairdressers looked like this, they do filler so I presumed she had it done that day, they looked hugely deformed, sore and a bit bloody. Re-assess in the morning.

PigletSanders · 30/07/2025 05:37

Tell me you didn’t just go to a beautician wielding a needle? Half a day’s course training is all they have. 😫

Is it black? I’d be worried about an occlusion of a blood vessel, which is an emergency, because that isn’t normal.

Universe11 · 30/07/2025 08:00

Hi all, thanks for comments. I think it is swelling. They don’t seem as bad today. Obviously when you have been laid down too they swell more. I have had ice on them. I had the Russian lip filler so they had to go in all the lip line, hence the swelling. And no I went to a registered practitioner. Im a medic myself so did my research. They are not hot or necessarily painful just really swollen. I am going to in the night garden later today too, live with my daughter. I think il need to wear a mask or do some covering up. Swelling peaks at 24-48 hours. So hopefully this is the biggest they will get and then they will go down!

Mine were like this when I had 1ml done. Stayed like it for about 48 hours and then went down really quickly after that. Using ice and a cold compress really helped

FunnyCradock · 31/07/2025 14:48

Which brand of filler did they use? Ive seen this happen with lumifill. It goes down after 48hrs. And then looks like you’ve not any treatment at all! Moral of the story - avoid cheap filler brands.
Check the capillary refill time - press onto an area of the lip for 10 seconds & wait for the area to go white. Let go & time how many seconds before it goes pink again. <2 seconds - it doesn’t indicate occlusion. If it’s sluggish & more than 2 seconds I’d contact the injector. It’s still not definitely an occlusion (swelling can slow cap refill) but I’d get it reviewed.
Meanwhile ice it for 10 mins every few hours and take antihistamines for the swelling.

Edit - just saw you said you’re a medic too. Obvs you know how to check cap refill then! Oops! Didn’t mean to be patronising! Should’ve RTFT!! 🫣

FullOfMomsense · 31/07/2025 15:34

Mine were like this when I had Russians done (by a trained medical professional), it does calm down. Ice and cold drinks helped. If it lasts more than 24-48 hours I'd contact injector.

Allseeingallknowing · 31/07/2025 15:36

OMG- if that isn’t enough to put people off, nothing is!

I know, is it really that necessary

tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz · 31/07/2025 15:39

What is Russian filler?

raven0007 · 31/07/2025 15:41

Is that a white patch on the middle of the top lip or just the lighting? If it’s a white patch, I’d be concerned enough to go back and ask the person who did to check for a VO.

Visun · 31/07/2025 15:42

After I got lip filler I was researching dissolving it almost immediately after. The swelling was horrendous but it did go down after a few days.

Hopefully they'll be fine after a few days. Keep us posted please, try not to worry yet.

I actually feel sorry for OP. Why on earth do women still do this? I bet her lips were fine before. In all the before and after photos I’ve seen, the before photos were always better. The only time filler might be needed is if the lips have become very, very thin like some do in later life.

HelloHattie · 31/07/2025 18:04

How are they now? Mine haven’t ever swollen that much but the heat won’t help.

And I wonder what your little child is thinking! It's not a great example to set is it, that you need enhanced to be classed as " beautiful" i don't agree at all I think it looks as fake as it is.

I really hope you feel better soon though.

CareerChange24 · 01/08/2025 02:46

I don’t know any aesthetics doctor worth their salt using the Russian technique. Just why? I’ll overfill your vermillion border so you look like you have a top shelf

Platosrevenge · 01/08/2025 08:11

‘The only time filler might be needed’
not sure filler is ever really needed…

upandleftthenright · 01/08/2025 08:14

Hoping it’s all better, Op.

JMAngel1 · 01/08/2025 08:23

People saying go to A&E??? Lord as if the NHS isn’t in enough trouble. If people are going to do this they need to go back to their injector for review. The NHS can’t afford to pick up the cost of vanity admissions.

Universe11 · 01/08/2025 08:25

Everything is all ok now. Thankyou to those who expressed concern. To those who had something negative to say, I didn’t post this to be bashed and told that basically I am a sh*t mother as I am setting unhealthy standards as some have commented. I genuinely do not understand, be kind it literally costs nothing! You don’t know my back story, or my past. So how can you make a judgement on one minute detail? I was asking for help, if you didn’t want to help - scroll on by. Women should build up other women. That’s something I will be teaching my daughter, to those few maybe you should educate yourselves on the importance of being kind.

Thankyou to everyone who has been so lovely, to those who haven’t so much - do better.

Happy Friday! x
