I've been invited to dinner tomorrow night and I know the person will be making a big effort.

I feel like I also need to make an effort and probably throw on a skirt.. so far he's only seen me in jeans.

I promised myself I wouldn't buy any blothes this month so don't want to spend a fortune and want to go for an 'effortless' yet perfect look

It is at his swanky pad so not too over dressed. Maybe something I can turn up in heels in then kick them off and look effortlessly sexy in bare feet lol

Is that a tall order? I'm off to search web now.

also have had lots of other dates since the work bloke so feel like I am definitely not rushing into anything again.. this guy seems very nice and is quite hot look-wise too.

MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 10:19

he is cooking me dinner and has already told me it's an excuse for him to get dressed up as well.

I checked, it's not black tie loln but from what I've seen of him so far, I'm expecting a fancy meal, low lighting etc

OP posts:
fishie · 28/05/2008 10:51

i love that grey one but it is grey and woolly and therefore not entirely what you are wanting to portray?

MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 10:51

Ok, I think I have searched every shop I can drag myself out to this afternoon.. am now going to look through all the links..

..I need all your opinions please..

will try and get dressed for lunchtime and head out so need to decide by then..

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 11:10

Yes I agree the grey one isn't really the look I was going for

I have a brown sticky fingers shirt dress in my wrdrobe which could hit the spot but it's quite heavy material and maybe a little too officey

OP posts:
fishie · 28/05/2008 11:16

sorry i haven't got time to look at links, but how about a pencil skirt?

MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 11:17

I look like a duck

I think a black button down shirt dress is just arriving outside for me lol

OP posts:
MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 20:26

have just given myself a pedicure and bright red toe nails so hopefully will pull off sexy barefoot look rather than looking gnarled!

Fingers crossed my fake tan doesn't go pathcy or whole look will be screwed lol

Thanks for all your help today

I LOVE that black belted coast dress. Buy that one it's gorgeous and classic. A wardrobe 'staple' I'm sure. It is elegant and looks effortless but accentuates a waist and shows off your legs.

The coast skirt is nice but same thing as cheap somewhere else I'm sure.

The dotty p number looks like you came ready for bed!

MascaraOHara · 28/05/2008 21:15

I tried the brown coast dress but the 10 was too tight across my bust and the 12 was too big everywhere else.. was gutted.. it is gorgeous and would deffo recommend it

Ok so I know probably nobody is interested lol but I just have to say that I wore the black skirt with the black shirt and black marc jacobs killer heeled patent shoes and he was very, very complimentary!! how great my legs were, how 'stunning' I looked etc etc

YEAY either he is a massive player or he is now mine for the taking
