Portrait of a Lady, help!

I’m looking for a perfume with the same powerful projection as Portrait of a Lady, which I love.
I just fancy a change.
The sort of perfume that people stop you on the street to enquire on it.
Any ideas?

If you want to stick with FM then try French Lover. I can’t wear PoaL as it goes too sweet on me but French Lover is perfect

Chickydoo · 27/07/2025 19:28

Liz Earl no 15 has amazing staying power, have been stopped several times when wearing it.

MonkeyTennis34 · 27/07/2025 19:32

@ChickydooI have Liz Earle no.15, it’s lovely but I’d like to try something new.

@Frieda12
Does French Lover have the same power as Portrait?

The last time I had someone comment, it was Vilhelm Poets of Berlin. Very different to POAL though...

LoveLabradors · 27/07/2025 19:57

I love POAL but last winter I switched to Diptyque Eau Capitale which is quite similar and had lots of comments about what a gorgeous scent it was. I don’t tend to wear it in the summer though.

Power in terms of silage, I’d say no, not quite. Power in terms of attraction and interest from other people, I’d say yes.

Shuttheblinds · 28/07/2025 00:38

I have POAL and also Liz Earle 15. I also love Chanel Allure Sensual. It is lovely. It has to be the Sensual version though. Another lovely one is Penhaligons Halfeti.

MonkeyTennis34 · 28/07/2025 08:45

@Frieda12
What does “silage” mean?

@LoveLabradors
I tried a few Diptyque perfumes recently and didn’t think any of them were particularly powerful….although I don’t remember trying Eau Capitale.
Next time I’m in town, I’ll seek out these fragrances.
@LordEmsworth
How is Poets different?
I’m not keen on an oud/woody/aftershave-type scent.

It's fruity! Not what I expected from the name at all, it doesn’t smell of smoky dark corners. It's not too sweet, fresh but warm...

LifesTooShortForBadSex · 28/07/2025 12:11

I wear Eau Capitale & far prefer it to PoL!

LoveLabradors · 28/07/2025 12:55

Eau Capitale is definitely powerful. I agree about other diptyque scents being less so.

Bestdrinkever · 28/07/2025 14:21

Scent of a dream by Charlotte Tilbury. Love it! One poster on here did once call it Scent of a drain! Obviously not a fan😂

SaintGermain · 28/07/2025 14:32

Rose Amira by Guerlain.

Frieda12 · 28/07/2025 18:13

@MonkeyTennis34 silage means the scent the perfume leaves behind and around you as you move around.
I’m definitely going to try Eau Capitale after the recommendations on this thread!

ItsFridayIminLoveJS · 28/07/2025 18:33

My daughter is manager of a perfum shop that most high streets have ( yes .. The perfume shop lol.

P.S where do you live? I could get you discount lol.
Funny enough.. I don't wear perfume much these days... but l have lots and lots of miniature samples now lol.

MonkeyTennis34 · 30/07/2025 08:57

I’ve just ordered a sample of Eau Capitale and, one I’ve been wanting to try for a while, Love Don’t be Shy.
Think they are very different fragrances but both distinctive.
Will report back.
