help me choose between knickers: Stripe & Stare, Thunderpants, British Boxers, Wirpa on Amanon

I want to invest in wedgie free underpants, preferably no or almost no vpl. I have had Chantelle hipsters but after a few washes they are not as tight fitting and give me a wedgie now. Have also tried Victoria's secret no vlp, M&S no vlp but they all seem fine the first few wears then give wedgies. I'm too old for uncomfable undewear. I've never tried boxers before but I like full coverage and I need something that goes with a panty liner. Which ones should I try? Thunderpants look great but bulky so I'm concerned about vpl with them.

Thunderpants will give VPL, though personally I don't care if other people can see that I wear underwear 🤣

Stripe and Stare get mixed reviews, I think for bigger people they're less good and also they don't have much longevity.

British Boxers are at least not made using slave labour whereas Wirapa almost certainly are. But I suspect VPL would also be an issue with British Boxers tbh.

Have you looked at other UK based pants makers? There's a couple I could recommend if that interests you.

Have you looked at Uniqlo Airism pants? Not cotton though, I don't know how much that matters to you.

Stripe and Stare went to holes after a couple of washes. I complained, and they promised me a new pair but they never materialised.

Thank you. I'll have a look. I don't mind what the fabric is. Just want comfort.

I swear by wirpa now. I had them from a size 22 to now a size 8-10 and all the size in between. So comfortable.

ScaryM0nster · 27/07/2025 15:30

Stripe and stare are very very thin. I’m not sure how well they’d handle a panty liner. Really disappointed in them after all the hype.

For what you’re after, try Tesco seamless.

If you’re thinking about boxers and like cotton, the standard M&S cotton multipacks are an excellent knicker. There’s probably a slightly line if you wear skin tight clothing but they definitely don’t dig.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/07/2025 15:45

British Boxers didnt wash and wear particularly well, but i recommend Step One and Oddballs.

moomoo22 · 28/07/2025 08:05

@IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads Thank you. They are on my list also so will have another look. Do you find the boxers ride up on the legs or are they quite comfortable?

I love my Wirarpa boyshorts, they're really comfy, no vpl and last well.

Verbena87 · 28/07/2025 08:12

Stripe and stare are extremely comfy but they are basically one step ahead of being disposable in terms of longevity. The labels say hand wash (wtf. I will happily hand wash my silk slip/cashmere knitwear but they don’t need washing after every wear), but even washed in a delicates bag on a delicate cycle at 30 they go bobbly, start falling to bits or ladder within months. Also, if you hot wash them (because no chance I’m trusting a 30 degree wash to shift yeast after having thrush, for example) they knacker really quickly. Makes me cross because the look/fit/colours/comfort are all excellent. For about 5 wears.

The women’s boxers have weirdly long legs, that roll up, but otherwise v comfy. I’m going yo but some briefs before long.

MrBootsMedicine · 28/07/2025 08:30

I wear Wirarpa women's boxer briefs with 5.5" inseam in bed as there is no centre seam to work its way into your arse crack like pyjama shorts and gives great coverage over the whole buttocks plus down the leg.

In all honesty if I don't want a VPL (why can men have their underwear lines showing but not women, is it to do with men imagining us not wearing any underwear under our clothes?) I wear those chub rub shorts. I wear them under dresses and also a couple of jumpsuits that have a lovely low crotch so very comfortable but it does mean the very tops of my thighs rub together. Hence chub rub shorts as underwear. The legs on mine do not roll up on me.

You could look at Mardy Bum Boutique or Hiccups & Juice - they both make pants to order so you can choose exactly what you want.

Wraparound are fab! Cotton and don't move

Clarityiskey · 29/07/2025 00:06
