Cool t shirts for the 50+ age group.

I love something a bit different, not too ott but maybe the odd sequin here, lightning bolt there, something a bit edgy and not too boring but, at 50 (ish) what can I wear without looking daft!

Any suggestions for good quality, cool not frumpy t shirts?

Depends on what edgy means to you but maybe Sugarhill Brighton or Scamp and Dude?

I like wearing my old band/festival T-shirts under a blazer and with a floaty skirt/jeans.

I like the style of some for sale on the Scamp and Dude site. That’s where I’ve seen the sequin lightning bolt there shirt, although it looks a bit oversized, like that style though and some others.

Rock on Ruby is great https://rockonruby.co.uk/

It all seems to be personalised t shirts etc on this site? Unless I’m looking in the wrong section?

Btw - sequinned lightening bolts do not convey ‘edginess’.

Any t shirt is suitable for the 50+ age group! I'm 45 and like H&M, Zara, Eden Ashram, Disko Kids, All Saints etc. Plus random band tees. There are plenty of things I'd have worn when I was younger that I wouldn't wear now (a top that was a tiny square of purple sequinned fabric with a couple of elastic straps to hold it on springs to mind) but I can't imagine looking at a graphic t shirt of any kind and thinking nope, I'm too old for that.

Have a look at Mint Velvet. They often have t-shirts with sequin embellishments & the quality is good

This is my fave this year - bought it in sale in women’s section of Ganni but looks like it’s sold out on there, it’s just the right level of rhinestone 🤣

Now I’m intrigued, don’t think your link has worked.

I like these - excellent quality, fabulous colours:

https://www.simeonfarrar.com/shop/t-shirts

Or you could look here for a comprehensive choice:

https://shop.doverstreetmarket.com/search?page=4&q=Womens%20t%20shirts

Afraid I can’t locate the age range labels for either shop.

I love the black or blue t shirt with the red flowers, sold out though.

There is no age limit on fun t shirts is there?
I get most of my basic graphic tees and band shirts from Primark.
I also like Joanie but they are abit expensive so I tend to either wait for sales or buy BNMT off Vinted.

footiego · 27/07/2025 18:13

I think you can wear any t-shirts but would say Scamp & Dude isn't edgy and do have an older customer.

WorthySloth · 27/07/2025 18:17

I wear band shirts. And jeans. Wear them because I like them

LittlleMy · 27/07/2025 19:00

A lot of women buy from the men’s section in Primark because they have more interesting ‘edgier’ dare I say designs than the women’s sections sometimes. Might be worth a look if you’re not specifically looking for high quality investment pieces.

dudsville · 27/07/2025 19:01

I agree I don't think sequins are what comes to mind when I think of edgy. However, I think the cool, graphic and band t shirts are actually of this age group, those in their 50s to 70s who were young when so many of the great bands, and therefore it doesn't look daft. For lightening boots though I think we're talking, Ziggy, right?
