Tote bag that stands up by itself….

Hi all, I would like a new tote for work (school, have got six weeks to source). What I want is one that stands up by itself because having one that flops under my desk is something that annoys me (probably more than it should tbh but here we are!) Have tried googling structured totes but a lot are popping up that I know are soft and have been displayed with card inserts etc. Amy recommendations? Budget up to about £80 but maybe a little more for something timeless that’ll last. Style wise I quite like classic, happy with leather or fabric.

Appreciate it’s over your budget, but I have the tote from Elvis and Kresse, made from recycled fire hose so really hard wearing, stands up on its own, completely waterprooof and pretty much indestructible.

Radley are generally quite rigid

I have a MK Voyager that I bought on Vinted for £60ish. It’s still standing up by itself 2 years on, despite being second-hand when I bought it.

I had exactly the same requirements, I spent many hours searching and ended up with a Hinza bag, which is absolutely perfect. I got the rain cover as well which I'd also recommend.

@CoxwellHuge I have looked at those, love the idea as I like all things sustainable but yes out of my budget sadly.

@Ksjwvod that is my current work bag and it doesn’t stand up at all! In fact the front pocket pulls it over. How do you find it?

@Stripeysockspots ill have a look at Zatchels, hadn’t thought of them.

Lots of good ideas here folks thank you

Liberty (I got mine in the sale) or MK (gift from a grateful parent).

Or a classroom with a cupboard 😆

Ha. I’m not a teacher so no classroom but I have drawers at least so I’m not schlepping everything!

OP, I’ve also just had a thought

take a look at the lawful London handbags online. I have one of their sienna bags that’s basically brand new. Ordered a few years ago and I hate it because it’s too structured 🤣 if you like it, id be willing to whack it on vinted for £65 and dm you the link!

Oooh…. What colour?

I have the Marc Jacob’s tote bag and it stands up by itself like a proud toddler, they’re not cheap new but have seen them on Vinted for £80 and under 😊

https://amzn.eu/d/1zxLcka got this as a Christmas present in 2023 … stands up (even when crammed full of random work stuff) and looks as good as new!

Have a look on Vinted for Kate Spade bags. I found they are very long lasting.

I have a Brics bag, it’s so nice. It has a separate small clutch /shoulder bag inside, it snaps in. It’s tough nylon, leather straps. It can be two handles, or as I’m on crutches for now, it can be cross body. I have the medium, it takes two litres bottle of milk, and a box of Felix pouches, as a practical illustration. Sorry can’t do links, Google Brics luggage,

Longchamp le pliage?

still flops to a degree, but the handles are sturdier and don’t get tangled. You can get inserts off Amazon to keep it full structured

Would second this. I have one with an Amazon insert that I use and abuse daily and it’s a thoroughly upstanding member of my bag community! 🤣
