DH, DS and I are going out for lunch at an hour old coaching inn that has a fancy dining room tomorrow. Men have to wear jackets.

I’ve got this dress in mint that I bought for a wedding. Is it too fancy for lunch?

Your dress will be wonderful. Enjoy lunch with your DH.

I had baked cheese soufflé, sirloin and trifle.

I wore black ballet flats since it was chucking it down, gold tear drop earrings and had my hair up in a gold clip. A woman complimented me on the colour.

DS has asked to go there for his 12th birthday. The George really is a special place. I highly recommend it if you’re ever near Stamford.

Sirloin - did you see it on the trolleh ? ( shades of V Wood )

Hope it was good and rare.

Did you have a pudding?

Am sure it was delicious Smile

People are different aren't they. As long as you conform to the dress code I would not notice your dress, hair clips, ear rings or ballet shoes ( odd choice - didn't they get wet? Confused)

Whole focus on The Food for me. Anyway it's on my list. Thumbs up.

Sorry I see you had trifle for pudding. Yummy.

MinnieMountain · 19/07/2025 17:25

We all had sirloin from the trolley @Words . DS has also decided he likes smoked salmon.

My ballet flats are leather, so they didn’t get too wet.

When we go for my birthday in late November they have their Christmas decorations up. They’re very classy. It feels particularly special then.

How lovely you are introducing your boy to good food. So much more heartening than ewwwww not eating THAT. He has so much delight ahead of him.

Apologies about the shoe issue. I thought you meant actual ballet shoes. Just flat shoes then rather than shoes with heels or those wicker platform sole jobs.

one can be underdressed but never overdressed.

The mint one, especially, is beautiful
