Are my highlights stripey?

Got highlights the other day. She also put a dye on the roots for the bits she didn’t highlight to cover the greys. I feel like it looks a bit stripey. Opinions please? Perhaps I am just being too picky.

Feel v awkward about having to go back in as there was an issue with the last colour too.

It's lovely. It is slightly stripey, but not over so. I would be happy with it.

Don't wait. They don't look good at all. It looks like she's missed your parting. Which is why it's soft on one side and striped on the other side or it's the foil pattern that was used and she rushes one side. It's not acceptable hairdressing at all. You need a few scattered prelightener foils put in to break up the darker colour and a few weaved/free hand/balayaged pieces to break up the lighter chunks. 20 ish foils should sort it out.

She put a tint on the bits that weren’t in foils. Would adding more highlights to the dark tinted bits damage my hair?

I feel really awkward about going back as I complained after my last appointment as asked her to lighten some dark pieces which she didn’t so I had to go back in. Feel like the serial complainer!

I like it OP

Its like the highlights/streaks of Old (late 80s to mid 90s), I would like highlights like this but I am old now. It looks fine tbh

Thank you. Although this wasn’t the look I was going for…I was hoping for a natural sunkissed blonde 😅

@Sunshine202341 I agree that the one side is definitely more defined than the other. However, the colour is great and it’s not overly obvious. But yeah, at this stage, I’d maybe move elsewhere.

KateShugakIsALegend · 16/07/2025 18:14

Kindly @Sunshine202341 , no-one else really cares.

It looks fine. I speak as someone who has fronted out worse and the world kept turning.

Just go somewhere else next time.

Edited

Not serial complaining at all. Her technique just may not be for you. It shouldn't damage your hair and if you're concerned they should offer you a free bonding treatment as well. The sooner you let them the know the better.

She just has to go in with fine foils with prelightener and 20 vol. Shouldn't take more than 30 mins to lift. She may need to tone again as well. Which will add shine and seal the cuticle.

If you like the products and the salon just wait until u know your regular stylist is busy and book with someone else. Or go elsewhere. She isn't for you. Good luck and stay strong x

It’s ok, but one side does look a bit stripey.

BeckyBloom · 16/07/2025 18:37

It’s fine but i wouldn’t go back as you have had previous problems. Ask for a recommendation for a good blonde. Colourist in your area to friends, Facebook etc

Everythingisokay · 16/07/2025 18:39

No, I think your hair is looking fricking amazing! 🤩

Nannyfannybanny · 16/07/2025 18:41

It's gorgeous.

Marble10 · 16/07/2025 18:42

Not stripey at all to me.

MayBeee · 16/07/2025 18:44

They look a little grown out . I would estimate a 4 - 6 week re growth .

AvidJadeShaker · 16/07/2025 18:46

I’d absolutely go back and nicely ask her to sort out the stripy side. I’ve had to do this about six times before for a colour or cut correction, it’s really not a big deal.

New2you · 16/07/2025 18:47

One side is definitely stripes

Letstheriveranswer · 16/07/2025 18:47

It's not stripey as such but there is a chunk in middle of each side which doesn't have highlights.
Maybe ask for some finer highlights on the top layer by the parting, and then she can go chunkier underneath to give texture?

CubanTody · 17/07/2025 08:47

You're not imagining it, I wouldn't be happy either. It looks lovely on one side with thick stripes on the other. I would ask them to fix it but find a new hairdresser going forwards. I have a similar-ish issue with my hairdresser and am currently agonising over whether to go elsewhere next time.
