Just that really or a bit dull? Or tad shapeless? Looking at this below from jigsaw- obvs I would like the model if I wore it?

I have a couple for really hot weather.

they don’t look great to be honest and I have demoted them to round the house only.

TheOpalReader · 15/07/2025 19:03

It looks like a nightie to me. I don't mind them a bit shorter though, around knee length. I wouldn't think someone looked horrible in one but I don't think they're very flattering.

Bitzee · 15/07/2025 19:13

Could be good if you want something you can fold in your beach bag and chuck over your swimsuit when you go to lunch but otherwise they look a bit nightie like/not massively flattering so probably a style I’d avoid.

Screamingabdabz · 15/07/2025 19:14

My thoughts were ‘what a nice colour nighty’.

Astleyxyz · 15/07/2025 19:15

I have a couple of shorter ones with a belt, much nicer

MinnieMountain · 15/07/2025 19:31

I’ve got one that someone gave me. I only wear it round the house or to the pool if I’m coming straight home afterwards.

AmateurNoun · 15/07/2025 19:34

They look like nighties but I wear them when it's really hot around the house/taking child to the park/nipping to the supermarket etc. I would feel too casual in it at the office. Mine are above the knee which I prefer.

Overtheatlantic · 15/07/2025 19:37

A modern house dress.

Elfbeth · 15/07/2025 19:38

Nice in theory only

I have this one and really like it. I don’t love the shape or colour of the Jigsaw one but as a “thing” I like t-shirt dresses.,

Platypusdiver · 15/07/2025 19:47

Good for travelling. Mine is black, knee length and swishier. It works with birkenstocks when at the beach or on the journey.

GhastlyGoodTaste · 15/07/2025 20:03

My favourite is from American Vintage, bought a few years ago - white cotton airtex, lined (!), oversized, just perfect for extra hot days. It was accidentally put into storage at the other end of the country; AV don’t have anything similar this year, and I’ve missed it dreadfully over the past few weeks.

In general I think they’re great for holidays / days when simply getting dressed feels like a chore. I often see more embellished or interestingly cut versions, but for me they’d be pointless as I wouldn’t want to wear a cotton jersey dress in any but the most casual circumstances.

Meadowflower2023 · 15/07/2025 20:46

I like graphic print t shirt dresses with chunky dr martens, either their sandals or boots (asos usually have plenty of the T’s) but that lilac jigsaw one is definitely giving me nighty vibes OP, sorry.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/07/2025 20:49

I’ve got a long black one from Arket, which I like for travel.

Sorry, but I really dislike the Jigsaw one. The colour is horrible imo and the shape and colour together scream 1970s nightie.

mondaytosunday · 15/07/2025 20:51

The length is wrong - it should be just above the knee or ankle length. A belt would do wonders.

GarlicMetre · 15/07/2025 21:34

I wear them all the time. This is because they're extremely easy, no more! I don't know if you look like the model but, tbh, she doesn't look great in that violet number. It's a very strange shape - sort of trying to be an A-line dress without the benefit of shaping seams or darts.

A t-shirt dress is normally straight up and down, like an over-long t-shirt. It can be slim or baggy - what it can't be is triangular, or at least it shouldn't!

Some can be flattering to an imperfect figure, if they have some stretch and happen to skim you just right. That's down to trial, luck and error.
