Waxing chin at salon

NicolaCasanova · 15/07/2025 11:53

Fed up with plucking the ever more abundant chin hairs since menopause so going to have them waxed at the place where I get bikini waxes.

Never waxed face before. Any tips, please?

Don't bother. Go for laser treatment. Mine are so fine now and most don't even grow anymore so no waxing or plucking.

Aren’t you forgetting those for whom laser treatment won’t work?

Thingamebobwotsit · 15/07/2025 12:07

Epilator. Cheaper and just as effective in the long run. And if laser will work for you use IPL too.

An épilator is way too painful for me! But thanks for the suggestion.

And yes I cannot do laser removal.

Any tips on before/during/after waxing?

Just shave

Is it only a few long hairs -I have fine hair on my face and had my sideburns area waxed -it seemed to look very different -completely hairless, to the unwaxed area so didn’t t try again

I found waxing didn't pull the thick stubborn hair out and the beautician just tweezed them out. Epilator works best for me, such a tiny area and its just a quick 'ouch' and finished.

You need to get electrolysis. It works on all hair colors. A few sessions and they are gone generally forever. You might get a few new ones that appear now and again, but that's one easy treatment and you are clear again.
My chin hairs were like wire, but as many were light or white and I have fair skin, laser wasn't an option. Plus, the ones that I had waxed or plucked often got distorted and so rather than growing straight out became in-grown. I had constant lumps, breakouts, AND hairs on my chin. Electrolysis got rid of them all.

Waxing was great for me.

Only tip would be to take pain relief beforehand if you're sensitive. But it's a lot less painful than bikini!

Been having mine waxed for years. Tip the beautician told me Do NOT use face creams or serums containing retinol as retinol thins the skin and a wax will pull away skin as well as hairs.
