My hair is naturally white now. I have a very very pale blonde applied at the salon (between a 9 and a 10) with lowlights put through the middle and ends. However, in the brighter weather the ends have turned orangey whilst the white looks a tad stark against my complexion.. I thought I'd try home colouring the roots with a lovely pale ash blonde (a 9.1). However, I've now got unlovely long lilac roots 🫣, whilst the middle and ends have been toned to a nice mid blonde. I haven't got time to make a salon appointment and wait as I have a few special events coming up. Can anyone advise please? I'm thinking of a mid ash blonde an 8, perhaps in a different brand. Nice n easy? Not ready for a lilac rinse look just yet 😭 🙏

Bumping for you

Ash blondes usually have a purple tone in them to stop it looking brassy, my guess is you left it on too long (not saying you didn’t follow the instructions but it was just too long for your specific hair) and now it’s overtoned. The good news is though that toner doesn’t last. Wash it several times with clarifying/detox shampoo and you should find it fades on its own. I’d be really wary of sticking another ash blonde on it though as that could just go more purple. To re-colour I think you need a pro unfortunately but you should be able to fade the purple without the need to.

Just an update....I found a nice and easy root touch up kit, from ages ago, in medium ash blonde, and applied it on as much root as possible. It's done the trick. Covered the resistant white hair and taken away the violet tinge. Thank the lord that I didn't throw this out. I bought this to try out originally as it's what my sister swore by in lockdown. I thought it would be too dark and didn't use it. I think I know what I'll be using in future 👍

Just leave it natural and save on the drama. People spend a fortune dying their hair platinum
