Carrot Trousers - dare I?

To be clear, I have no right on the S&B board, but I value the opinions as I try and scrape some sort of presentability into my everyday appearance. Point made by the fact I have never heard of Carrot Trousers before today, but searching this here finds mentions of them going back years.

Can I wear these? I need something for summer other than my wide leg linens. I’m a short 5’4” overweight size 16. I know they don’t do anything for my arse, but that’s beyond salvation at the moment anyway. Can I wear these or are they horrific?

P.S. Front photo is the longer length, can’t recall if rear photo is the same pair or shorter length so ignore any variation there.

Do you mean tapered trousers?

I also have no business being here!!

They dont suit you, colour is horrible and they're way too big for you. You're just swamped in fabric there.

PluckyChancer · 10/07/2025 07:56

Unfortunately, a longer length trouser will also have a longer crotch length so on a shorter torso, you end up with baggyness in the crotch area at the front.

I make all my own trousers as I’m short and if I buy RTW, they inevitably have a baggy front crotch on me and look awful.

I think that carrot style suit shorter women, they look nice on OP. I look ridiculous in them because I'm quite tall.

DuchessOfNarcissex · 10/07/2025 08:03

They're fine @BlueShed . Turn the hem up once or twice and you'll be fine.
I like the colour of them, and they only look tapered, not carrots. I'd wear them.

(The top is awful.)

These are gorgeous 😍 seems to be completely out of stock though

They still have the white ones in medium, L and XL if that would fit? Or Khaki in XS

ayepecking · 10/07/2025 13:23

I think they look too big and baggy on you. What about loose linen trousers with a fitted top https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-cropped-linen-trousers/p112627814

To be clear

You have every right to be on S&B

I think they look ok on you actually. Probably better than wide legged might

Edited

Hmmm I’m wondering about XS khaki. Would normally buy a S. What’s the fit like? My concern would be not getting them over my rather round arse though 😂
