What shops are worth looking at in Oxford Circus now?

Not been there for ages and I’m all out of date. I should have some free time there tomorrow between meetings. Which shops are worth a look at would you say? I am a 30 something mother of two preschoolers with a fairly classic style if it makes a difference.

Apart from John Lewis and selfridges I’d struggle for anywhere else down Oxford St I think. Uniqlo?

WestMuncher · 07/07/2025 15:49

@MoominUnderWater That was pretty much exactly what I was thinking. Glad it’s not just me!

Liberty and John Lewis

& Other Stories?
I've not been in but Abercrombie & Fitch is now open near Zara

Hoolihan · 07/07/2025 15:52

Oxford Circus is not known for decent shops! I'd head to Selfridges or Liberty, or Carnaby St maybe but even there it's just chain stores now. Oxford St itself is heinous.

MoominUnderWater · 07/07/2025 15:54

Is there &otherstories on Oxford st? I swear last time I was in London a few months ago the Covent Garden one had closed, had to go to the coals drop yard one.

Roomgigi · 07/07/2025 15:54

Also Pull & Bear and Massimo Dutti

Edited

Such a shame how things have changed. I remember when it was pretty much the place to go for clothes shopping but I guess that was some time ago now.

I think the Regent St one is still open and they also list another one opposite Selfridges

Longhotsummers · 07/07/2025 16:18

Head up to Marylebone High Street instead. Lovely range of shops there, and not far from Oxford Street.

NeelyOHara · 07/07/2025 16:21

Mango, And other stories, H&M Home and M&S, all nice stores and all by Oxford Circus.

It’s at the top of Regent Street- the back door opens on to the Palladium

lissie123 · 07/07/2025 16:26

I second Marylebone Street. Gorgeous clothes shops and there is always a coffee shop if needed.

minipie · 07/07/2025 16:47

If you have time head to Marylebone High St

If not I would cut down Argyll St and head down Regent St

There’s & Other Stories, Free People, Arket, Anthropologie, Cos, Massimo Dutti down Regent St as well as Uniqlo

Verite1 · 08/07/2025 00:28

I would either do Selfridges or combine regent street with carnaby street. Or if you have time, as others have said, Marylebone high street.

Nothungrycat · 08/07/2025 06:57

If you can step away from clothes shopping, the new IKEA (where Top Shop used to be) is worth a quick browse. Then - as others have said - do the Argyll Street/Regent Street walk, ending up at Piccadilly Circus. The only reason to divert onto Oxford Street is if you want to visit Marks & Spencers, and even then I'd do so by walking down Argyll Street and going along Gt Marlborough Street to enter it from the back door. Basically avoid Oxford Street!
