Twelve years ago I volunteered at my local charity shop . As a volunteer we had little perks , if we wanted an item we paid the same as a shopper , however if item wasn't selling and the price was going to be marked down we could buy at 50% off .

I once purchased a pair of trousers for 99p ( don't forget 12 years ago ) and whilst they were only a High St brand they went on to become my most worn trousers .

They were comfortable , looked good , went with loads of tops , were easy to wash / didn't need ironing ext . I would wear several times a month .

I've had them 12 years and have just thrown them out as now worn beyond getting away with it .

Can't believe how sad I am to see them go.
Have you a much loved item of clothing you are keeping / kept longer than you should ?

I had a cardigan of my dad’s, I remember him wearing it when I was little, I adopted it when I was a teenager and wore it for years. It was probably older than me.

I bought a pair of crop low waisted jeans in 2010 from the monsoon shop in an airport. By some fluke they fitted perfectly in the waist, and the length was just right for me, not too long, not too short. The flare was just right, not too flared, not too straight. I have worn them every year since. They are beginning to be very faded now and a bit shabby. I did actually recently manage to find a similar pair on Vinted. They are not bad, but not as good as my beloved original ones. Isn't it wonderful when, as if by magic, clothes fit just right?

So this is not quite the same.. but..

On one of our last shopping trips together in 2011 (which were a rarity in themselves as neither my mum or I were big clothes shoppers, unless we were in a Walmart on holiday!) my mum purchased a red Chanel cashmere coat on Oxford Street.

Mum died a few months later after a short illness, having never worn the coat. It has been sitting in my wardrobe for the past 14 years, still with all the tags on.

It's an XL size and I am a size 26/28.. no chance of it fitting me. I've just started taking Mounjaro and my secret goal is to lose enough weight so that I can wear that coat. 😊

A pair of Dune black strappy heeled sandals
I could wear them all night and dance all night too
I wore and wore them, had them re heeled several times, but the front started to look untidy so they've been relegated to the room of doom but I just can't face throwing them.out

Have never seen another pair like them

I’ve had my denim jacket for over 20 years. I got it from a Mulberry outlet store, and it’s absolutely perfect. It’s never gone out of style, it’s the perfect vintage wash denim and it’s lovely and soft. I’ll never part with it.
