Hair appointment to rearrange again

So I started going to a nice hairdressers back in January 2024. Really like the place and the staff and I don't need my hair cutting that often, perhaps every 2-3 months. Its now July 2025 and I've worked out that during that time, my appointment has been moved on 5 out of 7 occasions. Sometimes to an hour or 2 later but more often to a different day or week. Is this fairly typical or should I start looking for a more reliable hairdresser?

If you really like them and can be flexible I'd stick with them. You would have the hassle of finding an alternative that may not be any better.

What happens if you say, no I can't make that new time? Presumably they are juggling clients and seeing which ones will move.

I changed salons as I kept being moved to accommodate colour appointments and when I did arrive I would be kept waiting. I would go
on my lunch break from work so couldn’t afford to wait around so I voted with my feet and went elsewhere.

I gave up on my old salon because of precisely this reason. I realise that appointments run over and have no problem with waiting 10/15 minutes over my time but an hour, 2 hours? Regularly being asked to move to another day? I did the same as others and voted with my feet.

Thanks all, I usually just agree to move but this time I've got a holiday coming up and this was the reason I wanted my hair doing. I actually offered a couple of other potential slots but they ignored me as they only speak over text. I usually only go in for a cut and I often wonder if they're moving me so they can fit someone in to get the colour and therefore more £££. But like most people, I do have a life to work around!
