Anyone tried Remington's wide plate straighteners?

I have pretty thick long hair, it is fairly straight on it's own, but I'm 45 and my hair texture is changing and some bits are becoming a bit frizzy so I'd like to be able to straighten them. I have never had much success with straighteners in that unless I grip them really hard and do multiple passes over my hair they don't seem to work, and it takes so long and I get arm ache.

I've seen Remington wide plate straighteners on offer at several places for around the £35 mark. The claim to be exactly what I need, but I have been tricked before! So has anyone tried them, or does anyone with similar hair have any recommendations? I have considered buying GHD's or Cloud 9's before, but have had friends who didn't like either of those, so I was worried about wasting even more money on something that didn't work any better than a £50 pair.

Do you mean shine therapy ones? They had great reviews so bought for DD at xmas (long thick wavy hair). I'm so impressed with them. I've shoulder length fine hair but keep
Borrowing them as I like them way better than my GHDs. I bought normal
Sized ones for myself and they're ok, for some reason not as good. I love the wide plate ones though

The ones I have seen are the Remington Pro Ceramic, but I have just looked up the shine therapy ones, and they seem to be the same, but with oils infused into the plates. They actually sound even better for what I am hoping they will do so I think I will go for them. I need to do something to stop looking like I make no effort with my hair at all! Thank you for letting me know what you thought of them. It's good to know that you prefer to use them over GHD's.
