Just a dress for a wedding?

Is it ok to wear just a dress for a wedding? As in, no jacket or other outer covering? Am going to a family wedding in the summer. It is likely to be hot. I'm thinking a formal dress will be enough... Am I right? Haven't been to a wedding for ages.

Yeah I think that's fine. Well I hope so as it's what I'm doing this summer!

I should probably add that I'm the mother of the bride... but am early 50s and feel all the MOB outfits have a much older vibe!

Yeah, absolutely fine. Will you be outdoors into the evening as sometimes it gets cooler in the evenings and you may want a shawl or jacket to cover up or something.

We'll be indoors with dancing so I think I'll be getting too hot rather than too cold... but maybe good to have something to throw on if need be at the end.

It's best to bring a coat. Maybe it's cold at night
