Brazilian bikini bottoms yes or no?

Can’t decide whether they are flattering or just a bit ridiculous on me. I am almost 40 amd a size 12, need to lose a few kg…
Most bikinis I like seem to have a brazilian bottom. Plus I think I’d have to get everything waxed in order to wear them!?

I like them, more modern than a full coverage but still flattering. I'm a similar age & same size.

TizerorFizz · 25/06/2025 10:17

They might be flattering on some models! On most they are very skimpy. On white wobbly flesh it’s a bit of a no no. On Brazilian women on Copacabana it’s the norm. Really depends on the quality of your bum!

WildBalonz · 25/06/2025 11:44

I’ve struggled to find bikinis that cover everything. I don’t mind showing a little bum but I hate having to always be self conscious about any hairs poking out and constantly making sure that doesn’t happen. I’ve found M&S have some wider cut ones that are wider on the front so you don’t have to worry as much about stray hairs peeking out and being on display

TizerorFizz · 25/06/2025 12:27

We there isn’t Brazilian hair waxing for no reason! Hair free is the gold standard for these bikinis.

Aperolspritzoclock · 25/06/2025 12:32

Well, on me they would look ridiculous. On my 20 something, size 8, legs to her armpits. fit. toned, sporty dd they look great - as does everything she wears. Get some good rear view photos (including bending, squatting and anything else you might be doing on the beach/by the pool and then decide

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 25/06/2025 13:40

Do you mean 'cheeky' bikini bottoms so not quite thong0like but cut into your bottom? Sorry for the vague description!

Anyway, I like them and think they are so much more flattering than normal (non high cut) bottoms. I've got a couple of swimsuits that have these bottoms, cut-out side panels and are low cut (and I'm 48!)

TizerorFizz · 25/06/2025 16:21

Brazilians in Brazil are just thongs at the back. Virtually no coverage. Ok on toned and tanned sporty Brazilians. Not so great on others.

ScaredyCatherine · 25/06/2025 16:36

Depends on the bum person definitely! I have a pretty flat bum 😒, so they really don't suit me

Good rear view photos including bending, squatting and anything else you might be doing on the beach in a pair of brazillian bikini bottoms 😂Who would you rope in to take this series of shots?

Titasaducksarse · 25/06/2025 16:56

I've brazilian cut bottoms but they're not a thong they're just more cut in than a normal full coverage. I'm 48, size 14 but have been working out at gym a lot and feel they're really flattering.

Thinkle · 25/06/2025 16:59

I love the body positivity coming through on this thread.

Berlinlover · 25/06/2025 17:02

I’m a size eight and wouldn’t be brave enough to wear them.

LlynTegid · 25/06/2025 17:07

Depends on the colour I think. Probably darker colours suit more women.

Userengage · 25/06/2025 17:12

Depends on the backside I think but then I’ve seen every kind of arse in a thong bikini so maybe it doesn’t.

TizerorFizz · 26/06/2025 08:54

@Titasaducksarse In Brazil they are just a wider thong. There’s no real bum coverage.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 26/06/2025 10:24

They are pretty easy to Google, it's a well known cut, widely sold. They are very similar to standard 'bikini' cut underwear, but with around 1/4 less coverage at the back. Nowhere near a thong.

FourBlackCats · 26/06/2025 11:20

Hate them! Particularly annoying that the trend is seeping into ‘normal’ swimwear. Even a bog standard Speedo costume I bought recently is higher cut on the bum than it would have been a couple of years ago.

TizerorFizz · 26/06/2025 12:20

This is a Brazilian from Bilabong. More than high cut! This is what they usually look like. Definitely in Brazil.

bridgetreilly · 26/06/2025 12:42

Personally, I like a covered bottom, but if you like them, go for it!

TicTac80 · 26/06/2025 12:48

I wouldn’t have the guts to wear them in public (I like shorts) but good on anyone who does choose to wear them!!

Thingamebobwotsit · 26/06/2025 12:52

Personally I feel like I had my fill of uncomfortable lower half in the 90s/00s, but I don't think that should stop you. As long as you feel comfortable and confident in them, wear whatever you fancy and just enjoy it. Life is too short to worry what other people think.

MiddleAgedDread · 26/06/2025 12:57

No thanks

I think I am a different species to this model 🙄(despairs at big, wobbly, grey-pink, square bottom).
Ah, to be young and pert..

minipie · 26/06/2025 13:00

I wouldn’t, just because it would feel like a permanent wedgie.
