Please could anyone help with men’s waistcoat buckle strap thing?

Firstly please excuse any spag etc and shit descriptions. There’s a reason.

Anyway DH is naturally and effortlessly stylish and but not a “formal formal” dresser if that makes sense? Anyway he is wearing very smart clothes inc a lovely waistcoat to An Important Event. He is 6 foot 4 with 30 inch waist, so clothes can be tricky! but the fit is perfect is perfect on this waistcoat and we have enough etiquette knowledge to know the one finger fit thing, last button always undone and buckle ideally in middle etc .

Fine, But practically, the fucking buckle thing on the strap is throwing us. The fabric strap is silky and when the buckle is done, there is a spare bit of the strap after IYSWIM is Just hanging loose? I always wear those adhesive straps (I believe called tit tape ) to help my own clothes stay in place so my idea was just to stick a little on the strap so they stick together.

but are we missing something? I do have cognitive function issues so used to be able to tie a scarf in a million different ways, now I literally can’t tie my own shoelaces it’s very frustrating.

any help appreciated, esp if explained very simply! DH had to rush to work and i’d love to be able to show him when he gets back, that I’ve sorted it.

may post in chat as well for traffic and quick responses but I know you guys will know the answer! thank you very much

DH is a tailor, he said is there a bar in the middle of the buckle. If so thread it through then back on itself and the spare bit will sit inside and you won’t see it. Does that make sense?

It does make sense and thank you @DollyPumpkin I think DHs is just too long and dangly Grin but thanks to your DH too
