Nice dress with pockets for Wimbledon

AgnethaF · 22/06/2025 17:12

Want a nice cool dress I can wear with trainers to Wimbledon. Below knee for comfort, don't want it riding up when sitting down. Maybe a nice sage green, but I can wear most colours (dark hair/hazel eyes). Not linen - don't want to look crushed or crumpled. Looking for effortlessly cool.... :)

Budget £100. Size 16. 5ft 4, so not ankle length as look like something out of Michael Bentine's Potty Time (1970s show for the oldies among us).

this? If this looks too long, some of the colours are available in petite, including this blue and a nice green stripe.

I was going to post this too. If you head to M&S then you can check if they have any of these in your size for 50% off. I got one on Thursday for under £50. They also have some versions on the sale at John Lewis but not as heavily discounted as M&S.

Oops the last one might not have pockets though, I forgot the pockets.

Boden have some nice ones in jersey fabric with pockets

I'm not sure how you can look like a character from Michael Bentine's Potty Time, but thank the OP for the reference.

Hope one of the suggestions works and you enjoy your time at Wimbledon.

I just bought this years Wimbledon dress from me and em. Pricy full price, but you can often find them on Vinted if you know your size

Scamp and Dude are your friend here, loads of dresses mid length, cotton and have pockets!

beetr00 · 22/06/2025 23:47

@AgnethaF pocket perfection 😉

I wore a dress from Baukjen when I went 3 years ago. It was perfect for the occasion. Their dresses are pricey though so I would check out sales or their outlet as sometimes you can pick up a dress around the £100 mark or less. Here’s one I found on a search.

Zara: search bar “dress pockets” loads lovely dresses

Seasalt have some lovely dresses .

@AgnethaF -Toast have some nice dresses under £100 in their sale atm:

https://www.toa.st/collections/sale?refinementList%5Bproducttype%5D%5B0%5D=Women%27s%20Dresses&sortBy=UKproductspriceasc&page=2

Sizes at Toast can be a bit weird, so if you see anything suitable, it’s probably best to order two different sizes as time is short.

Their £60 crinkle cotton dress in either orange or dark green is lovely irl - I have both:

I know you also said no linen, but Toast linen dresses in the floaty style don’t seem to wrinkle with wear.

Returns are free and straightforward.

I have a couple of the Nobody's child starlight dresses - they are lovely but if you have big boobs they are quite "buxom wench" which may not be the look you are going for at Wimbledon.

The pockets are excellent however. Lots of their dresses have them - just search the website for "dress pockets"

I've also got this one which is a bit more casual, but is the comfiest dress ever and gets lots of compliments for the pretty colour

Ooh following OP - I am also heading to Wimbledon this year and want to wear something cool and airy with trainers, it’s a long day on your feet. I like the tennis racquet print dresses…but too much? Not sure.

Have a fab time there OP!

AgnethaF · 23/06/2025 22:01

Thank you everybody! Some great suggestions there.

Loving the tennis racquet dresses, but fear it would be a one-wear-wonder!

Also liking the Hobbs dress, the little capped sleeves would hide a little bit of my arms.

Couldn't find any Nobodys Child dresses in the M&S sale :(

Just came here to second Boden, they have a sale at the moment and they do lots of dresses with pockets. Their dresses are super comfy too, perfect for an all day thing.
