Hi, just as the title says really, For some reason I fancy treating myself to a 'posh' nail varnish - Chanel, or Estee Lauder possibly.... am I being daft? Are they worth the extra?

I don't think so. My Revlon stays put far better than my Chanel.

Heated · 23/05/2008 20:18

I haven't noticed any difference, think it's all in the preparation and application.

esp chanel ones - my preference.
but essie are fab
as are the malva

pickie · 23/05/2008 20:20

Have Clarins and cant say it is any better then No7, the latter stays on better

smittenkitten · 23/05/2008 20:34

leighton denny are the best

sagacious · 23/05/2008 20:41

OPI and revlon are good mid priced nailvarnishes

I've bought chanel in the past (sucker for rouge noir) and its ok nothing wow that was worth loads more

expatinscotland · 23/05/2008 20:42

my sister sent me a few Essie polishes and they are brilliant. the stuff on my toes was on for a fortnight nad going strong!

not a chip in site.

rainbowface · 23/05/2008 20:43

kind of thought as much, I mean a nail varnish is just a nail varnish right? - unless its a really cheap one possibly.

Sorry didnt see the last post - havent heard of essie where can you get that?

pinkspottywellies · 23/05/2008 20:47

My fave is Rimmel. That stays on better than my Yves Saint Laurent!

chonky · 23/05/2008 20:50

Another vote for OPI. Chip free for over 2 weeks (on my feet that is).

beansontoast · 23/05/2008 20:50

i dont have that much experience..but funnily enough was thinking today 'this nail varnish has reaaaly chipped quickly ' (rimmel)...usually wear revlon/chanel (both pretty similar)

Izzywhizzy · 23/05/2008 20:51

Estee Lauder goes on really nicely and stays on for ages IME.

MehgaLegs · 23/05/2008 20:51

I have had a Tesco one on for a week and not a chip.

hifi · 23/05/2008 20:58

i had 2 chanel ones for 15 years, they still worked. i have mac from 2000.

PatsyMoon · 23/05/2008 21:01

I like Chanel, but also Revlon and Rimmel 60 seconds.
I don't like OPI one bit, it chipped and looked crap (but that could just be me!).

rainbowface · 23/05/2008 21:04

Have seen quite a few Chanel on ebay - do you think they are genuine?

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 23/05/2008 21:05

i would NOT buy any brand name makeup, perfume or nail varnish on Ebay but only from an authorised dealer - Boots or SpaceNK or the like.

rainbowface · 23/05/2008 21:12

oh....they could be old possibly.

OP posts:
maidamess · 23/05/2008 21:13

I rate No 17 VERY highly. Lasts ages. I had a Chanel one, twas crap.

harpomarx · 23/05/2008 21:17

rather spend the money on a manicure.

rate Malva, that's not really pricey but feels professional cos you only get it in salons and strange pharmacists. Choice of colours is a bit shit though!
