Hi
I haven't been to much weddings and wondering what peoples thoughts are on this dress for my friends wedding it's summer and I'm worried this is giving winter vibes and that the dress is to dressy .. it's beautiful on photo doesn't do it justice . I have another option if this isn't appropriate. I obviously will be wraing without a bra lol

It’s a no from me, it looks like a garment sample gone wrong 🙈

JustWhatIAlwaysWanted · 20/06/2025 00:15

Plain black isn't summery. Sorry!

AllFours · 20/06/2025 00:15

Too dark, heavy & wintry for a summer wedding, sorry (it does look great on you!)

donkeyderby25 · 20/06/2025 00:15

I’d say this is more winter party than summer wedding. I’d avoid black for a wedding too. What type of wedding is it?

beetr00 · 20/06/2025 00:15

you have a gorgeous figure @Kaityx44 and the dress is lovely but...not for a summer wedding imo.

MrsMoastyToasty · 20/06/2025 00:22

As the others have said...and I think you will boil on that high neckline.

horseplay12 · 20/06/2025 00:27

Not too much in the style, but it’s way to dark/goth for a summer wedding

Itallcomesdowntothis · 20/06/2025 00:29

It’s a no from me. Too dark. Too severe and where is the other sleeve? Not wedding at all.

This.

TheChosenTwo · 20/06/2025 00:31

Very much winter vibes imo.
and silly with one sleeve.

Fullofpudding · 20/06/2025 00:32

Not suitable for a wedding at all. You’ve got a great figure but the dress just covers you up. I’d wear that out for dinner not a wedding.

GarlicMile · 20/06/2025 00:32

Hell, no. You'd look great in anything - is there a particular reason you wished to convey "sultry one-armed mourner" at this wedding?

If you are in the UK there are two colours you don’t wear to a wedding. Black and white ( unless you are the bride).

FreddysFingers · 20/06/2025 03:02

I don't think the black is appropriate for a summer wedding, however it looks beautiful on you, and you should definitely wear it for a different occasion, perhaps a night out or a meal out? You have a great figure, sorry for putting a downer on the dress- do you have any alternatives you could show us?

gerispringer · 20/06/2025 04:32

Its a no from me. Not remotely summery. You'll be uncomfortable all day. Whats the point of asymmetric sleeves? One arm cold, the other hot.

Yetanothermatch · 20/06/2025 04:50

No, it’s not suitable for this occasion.

That's utter nonsense other than on Mumsnet in my experience.

But the dress is too heavy and the wrong fabric for a summer wedding.

Something like this would look amazing on you, OP.

Too dark for a summer wedding

purpleandpurple · 20/06/2025 06:04

To dark and the material too heavy for a summer wedding.

treesfalling · 20/06/2025 06:46

Black is fine for a wedding however that style is far too heavy for a summer wedding.

GreySkyAtNight · 20/06/2025 06:54

I think with a summer wedding you can go a bit more fun - the black and white ones linked have that fun.

I like asymmetric dresses but prefer sleeveless for summer.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 20/06/2025 06:56

There is no thing summery about that dress. It would be fine for an evening / winter do or party.

Looks fan on you though, wear it somewhere!

W0tnow · 20/06/2025 06:57

Buy the dress, it’s lovely. But buy something else for the wedding.
