For as long as I’ve known, my legs look awful and I can’t bear to wear dresses or shorts - I’ve tried different shaving gels, razors, exfoliating etc but always end up with little dots. Has anyone got any tips to make these look smoother? Would love to be able to bare my legs in the summer but they’re hideous!

I am very fair skinned and my hair comes through very dark and very quickly! This is a picture of my legs immediately after shaving.

You could look at something like a Lumea laser. Pale skin and dark hair is the best combination for it to be successful. I've used it and it's reduced my leg hair by more than 95% I'd say.

I would say, even though I recommend the laser, those little dots will not be visible, unless someone is waaay too close!

Lumea got rid of my strawberry legs and ingrown hairs.

My calves often look like this. Though I have eczema too so they often also have eczema sore patches and I'm super clumsy so usually have bruises on my shins.

I've literally never considered that anyone would be remotely bothered by any of the above. I love summer and wear shorts a lot in particular in warm weather.

With kindness, I'm sure nobody cares enough to even notice. And even if they did notice likewise, they wouldn't care! Wear what you like!

They are not hideous! They are perfectly normal. Get the shorts and dresses on.

SureLook · 19/06/2025 20:02

Your legs are absolutely fine the way they are. Totally normal! But if you do want to do something about it then I highly recommend laser hair removal. Its been the best beauty investment! My underarms were like that, still very dark right after shaving and now I hardly have to shave them at all.

I have this too and avoided skirts most of my life and never ever wore shorts. Well, I've bought a pair this year and am going to be brave and wear them. They're knee length, so not so bad.

My legs improve if I exfoliate a lot and use Aesop body balm on them. It's expensive, sadly, but it does work (ish) for me.

The gradual tanning lotions or fake tan also improve the appearance somewhat.

Thanks all. Will have a look at the lumea!

@SureLookhow do you find fake tanning? I find it just shows the spots / marks even more 😩

Also thank you for all the positive comments, it’s such a hangup of mine but have lost some weight and determined to get them out!

@bubbletubble I exfoliate and shave the day before I want to apply tan. I don't use a scrub for exfoliating as that can cause micro tears in the skin. I use a chemical exfoliating body lotion. Aveeno do a nice one.
I exfoliate my body twice a week and use normal body lotion every day after my shower. Hydration and prep is key! Drinking water and getting in your omegas helps as well.

@SureLookthanks that’s really helpful, I use a scrub so perhaps that’s where I’ve been going wrong. Will try your routine
