Can I wash a Tesco F&F Duvet coat in the machine?

I've just bought a Tesco F&F duvet coat on Vinted, it's great but the seller has sprayed it with some awful flowery smelling stuff. Has anyone tried washing theirs in the washing machine. I've checked for a label but can't find any washing instructions.

It depends on the filling. A polyester or polyester/cotton mixture can be washed at 30-40 degrees. Biological powder will get rid of the smell.

If the filling is down, there are internet instructions for washing it. You’ll have to take care not to cause the down to clump together.

If you’re unsure about the filling, cut a slit where it won’t be noticed next to a seam and extract a small amount to check it.
