How to style this dress to look 80s

I bought this from M&S as I thought it looked rather 80s. I'm going to an 80s party but don't want to do the usual Cyndi Lauper, Madonna etc look. How would you style this? Thanks.

Sloane ranger style?

It doesn't particularly scream 80s but agree with @Stripyzebrabra and go Sloane.

Wide belt, alice band & flat ballerina pumps.

Pressed too soon.
Bold make up & earrings.

Red accessories. White stilettos?

Put a big bow in your big scrunched hair and a wide belt around it. Defo heels. Black, white or red. Sheer tights or none. No opaques, that was 90s. I was there.
Red lippy and lots of eye shadow.

Go all out on make up and hair - plenty of hairspray and back combing! Watch Working Girl for inspiration (it's a brilliant film)!
Big statement earrings, plenty in the stores at the moment.

It doesn't scream 80s to me (I was in my prime) but it could get an 80s feel with shoulder pads inserted plus a wide belt with matching stilettos, hand bag and maybe earrings. Also big hair is absolutely essential.

I had 2 sets of the above , matching red belt, shoes and bag and the same things in bright blue. I also wore matching elastic belts, leg warmers and headbands with my leotard and tights when I went to high impact aerobics classes to 'feel the burn' Jane Fonda style. I still miss the Nike hi-tops I wore back then.

Yes to big, chunky earrings!

Huge shoulder pads - sew a hiking sock in each side. Or two!

Elasticated belt in a contrasting colour, and maybe sheer tights to match - sheer royal blue nylons would be pretty eye-popping

Gold chain-link necklace maybe. Hair backcombed as others have said, perhaps incorporating a scrunchie. Plus bangles on each arm. Shiny high heels.

Blue eyeshadow to go with the other suggestions about Alice band, BIG hair, pumps etc. And second watching Working Girl, it really is an excellent film.

My vote is for one pink and one green fluo ankle sock over fishnets worn with white, winklepicker stilettos. Match a wide belt to your shoes, earrings and clutch bag. Poofy hair, lairy eyes, big shoulders. You should use enough hairspray so that your hair doesn't move and is a crispy fire hazard.

Wide belt with big metal butterfly maybe ? buckle ,black fishnets with black heels or pixie boots ,lots of chunky metal bangles and some big hoops earrings.
Black smokey eye and big red lips-think Robert Palmer models, and of course a big stripe of 80's style blusher.

I was there! Electric blue, wide belt with matching electric blue tights. White stilettos, obviously. Large plastic bead necklace, in bright red. Wrist full of plastic bangles (blue and red). Scrunch dry hair and then back comb roots, finish with hair spray.

Twilight Teaser lippy. Electric blue mascara. Two totally unblended stripes of pink blusher down each cheekbone.

Pastel blue tights, a big matching hair accessory, stilettos with bows on the back or front,back combed hair, glitter hair spray and looks of eyeshadow 😁

Agree with Sloane styling such as an Alice band and Chanel like chain style bag.
