I have just bought a pair of white jeans but can't decide whether to keep them or not - what shoes should I wear with them (for a start)?

They are straight/slim cut and a great fit on me.

I like them (and the H loves them) but I'm not 100% sure how to wear them and look stylish and not at all footballer's wife (not that I look anything like a WAG)

Any pointers? Shoes, for starters?

can't go wrong with converse or wedge platforms for evening.

castille · 23/05/2008 12:00

Ah I did think wedges would be good.

I'm not sure about Converse, I think they make my legs look like sticks and my feet huge...

hmmmm, I don't really get white jeans, they always make me think of Liz Hurley

ProfessorGrammaticus · 23/05/2008 12:06

White birkenstocks?

Pavlovthecat · 23/05/2008 12:06

White jeans need to be worn tight, with very high heels in my opinion. Any colour heels as long as they are not white! Shiny is best.

If this is not the look you like, they are probably not for you!
IMO anyway

notnowbernard · 23/05/2008 12:07

I can't do white jeans, what with my erratic and inconsistent menstrual history!

Tutter · 23/05/2008 12:11

def not black leathe boots/shoes!

othewise, whateve you'd wea with light blue jeans

pumps, balleinas, chunky boots, convese...?

Tutter · 23/05/2008 12:12

i was so tempted by a pai of white jeasn the othe day

but i have a 10mo and a 3yo

noddyholder · 23/05/2008 12:13

Gap platform sandlas or ballet pumps or rea;ly nice plimsolls.I like them with grey

Pavlovthecat · 23/05/2008 12:14

I agree no boots. They need to be shoes that cover just the toes. that style.

Are they skinny jeans or flared? If skinny jeans, dont do converse unless you are young!

castille · 23/05/2008 12:15

Ha! Good point bernard. Reserved for certain days only

They are quite tight in the right places, which is why I like them.

But although I've got some birkies, they aren't white. I don't own any white shoes, or any shiny ones, oh and no very high heels either

Eeek, am I fashion loser...?!

OP posts:
castille · 23/05/2008 12:20

They are on the skinny side, more slim/straight than skinny, and thus more suited to my age (36)

I have a 22mo Tutter, maybe I'm mad

Boots/black weren't on my radar, phew I'm not that much of a loser, but I agree Noddy that grey could be fab

I bought some the other day and I am sure I look more crap in them than you do. But I like them - they were from Matalan and were only £15. Falmers I think, they fit well anyway and are a very good length on me.

anyway I wear mine with navy converse or silver birkies and a navy t-shirt

Enid · 23/05/2008 12:23

i have them on now - navy t-shirt, silver birkies today and little vintage silver and diamante bird brooch

I think white trousers look great with apple green or royal blue top. Fresh as a summer daisy .

Don't feed your kids chocolate or ketchup when wearing them though!

shrinkingsagpuss · 23/05/2008 12:42

what are you doing on mumsnet? Anyone even contemplating wearing white jeans surely doesnot have children?!!!!!!

shrinkingsagpuss · 23/05/2008 12:43

ok... seen other posts now.... blimey... last time I wore white trousers, I most certainly did not have kids... !!

Ahh but thats the allure of white trousers for mums. They are so impractical, it shrieks I am not just a mum!

castille · 23/05/2008 13:04

Yes, 3 kids sagpuss - including a toddler. I won't feed my kids (or myself) when wearing them, at all. Or maybe I need a housecoat

Like your Monsoon tunic, Lapin, gorgeous.

Am warming to them now, partic with tunics. I like tunics at the mo.

mine would never be white, they would always be some grubby not-quite-white, so it would shriek "MUM - TRYING NOT TO BE!!!!"

cupsoftea · 23/05/2008 13:11

saw a mum in white stretch type trousers - they were so white & bright - I'd never be able to wear something like that
